Marilyn was an exceptional actress in 30 films and receiving 2 oscar nominations early on in her film career. She could do comedy or drama equally well. Don't listen to your mother. You need to see some of her work.

I have seen most, if not all, of her movies. IMHO, Marilyn was a fat broad with big boobs and virtually no talent. Her role in "River of No Return" was jerky and her manner of speaking was neither real nor relaxed.

I am not saying the movies she made were bad, "Some Like It Hot" was fantastic. Less because of her than Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon.

Her Oscar nominations were due mainly to those features closest to the camera lens.
