Murtha Threatens the Pentagon?
The Corner ^ | 2/8/07 | Kathryn Jean Lopez

Posted on 02/08/2007 9:35:04 AM PST by Brian Mosely

The Republican Study Commitee isn't leaving on a jetplane; the latest:

After the Pentagon rejected pressure from Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other House Democrat leaders to provide her a military C-32 Jet, Congressman John Murtha (D-PA) responded angrily after the media reported the story.  So angrily, in fact, that the Defense Appropriations Chairman apparently believes that it is "in the interests of the United States" to threaten Department of Defense funding over the flap.

THE INITIAL THREAT
Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., the Pelosi ally who chairs the House military appropriations subcommittee, said he has spoken to Pentagon officials about the need to provide Pelosi with a bigger plane that can fly passengers coast to coast in comfort....  "I don't need to pressure them. I just tell them what they need to do." Murtha said.
(San Francisco Chronicle, 2/8/2007)

APPROPRIATIONS CHAIRMAN THREATENS TO CUT DEFENSE FUNDING AFTER AMERICA LEARNS OF PELOSI PLANE DEMAND

"Late Wednesday afternoon, one of Pelosi's closest allies in the House, Rep. John Murtha, D-Penn., chairman of the key Appropriations Committee subcommittee on defense, told CNN that the Pentagon was making 'a mistake' by leaking information unfavorable to the speaker 'since she decides on the allocations for the Department of Defense.'"
(CNN, ABC News, 2/8/2007)
(San Francisco Chronicle, 2/8/2007)

Our nation is at war.

It is irresponsible, inappropriate and reckless for a member of Congress to threaten the Pentagon and men and women of our armed forces.

Retired veterans who have time on their hands should start picketing this schmuck everywhere he crawls. Murtha is a perfect example of "human debris" not worthy of calling himself an American. If I lived in this schmucks district, I would hide my head in shame.

Like Hillary, Pelosi more than likely wants to be able to order military personnel (or FBI agents) to purchase her personal hygiene products in an effort to show them who is boss. Nothing like humiliating brave Americans to make these human debris feel like royalty.

I'm always pleased to have an opportunity to send SanFranNan a letter pointing out what a disgrace to our nation she and the "leaders" of the Democrat Party are. Not that there's any lack of such opportunities. . . .

What upsets me so much about all this crap is that he is a Marine. It makes me want to cry to see how willing he is to hurt the military. I am not kidding. It really does. Then again, not much about this whole kit and kaboodle doesn't make me want to cry these days.

I had a Superbowl/going away party for my dh and some of his fellow Marines. These young guys, some with families, some with no support from family at all. They are all willing to go over to war in 5 weeks and do their job. Even the one who don't support the war, and they are few and far between around here, are at least proud to go and support their brothers and sisters at arms. Some of these guys (and women) are barely 20. They can't even drink, but they are willing to go and fight (and possibly die) for this, and I heard not one complaint.

But no, this guy wants to cut the legs right out from under these Marines just because his partner in crime can't have the plane she wants. Words can't even begin to describe the hatred I feel for this man. This is the one man I would like to break the "once a Marine, always a Marine" credo for.

::sigh::

I think someone should tell Lockheed Martin. Because there is a city in Mr. Murtha's district (where they filmed the movie "All of the Right Moves")called Johnstown, PA where there is a Lockheed Martin plant. If the Pentagon gets funding turned off, then the plant could go under.

Paging Murtha's voters....You all elected that SOB.

If freepers don't call their legislators, then we're just making noise here.

He should be forced to resign. Threatening the funding of our military when they're risking their lives in Iraq is no small matter.

If freepers don't call their legislators.

My Critter won't return my calls, and my Senators are UpChuck and Hillie.

I'd rather organize a boycott of Murtha's district.

Murtha is the dirtiest of the dirty. That man should end up in jail one day, hopefully soon.

Let the witch take her pick. And she can pay to have it restored

There ya go.

We could compose a song for her to sing while he flies.

Maybe we'll call it "Witchcraft"!

That works too. This is outrageous but I don't see much activism being organized here. That's what we used to do around here, but I guess those were the old days.

They've never really believed we're at war. They consider the WOT a law enforcement matter to be resolved (according to Mzz Pelosi).

Was reading The Looming Tower last night, a passage that descirbed John O'Neill's efforts to abduct OBL and bring him back here for trial. God Bless John O'Neill, but what a misguided effort. He should have been working to kill the s-o-b! It would be farcical if it hadn't resulted in so many deaths, including his own.

So now when it's to her advantage, she and that fat boy Murtha cite the "war on terror."

Man,the caliber of our public servants is at an all time low! We have a bunch of self absorbed phonies running our country. C'mon Republicans in power. Call Murtha on his despicable tactic of threatening our troops safety for flying that plastic princess around the country on the tax payers dime.

As my dear departed dad used to say:"I'm so mad I could bite nails in half! Dang Nabit!"
