(CNSNews.com) - Weeks after accusing President Bush of "shameful" behavior over the imprisonment of two Border Patrol agents who shot an unarmed suspected drug smuggler along the U.S.-Mexico border, a federal lawmaker turned up the heat further Wednesday, suggesting the president should be impeached if either of the two men is murdered in prison.

Well. TV networks have been unable to get them released even under Freedom of Information act... and eleven months isn't going to wash using illness as an excuse... most documents that have been released are heavily redacted... and

You didnt say if you knew who Sanchez is?

Here's Hunter's letter to President Bush calling for Bureau of Prisons Director Harley Lappin to be fired

Here was his earlier letter to Lappin requesting his personal attention in ensuring the safety of the Border Agents:

If you really believe the judicial process is impartial and fair

I didn't say it is impartial and fair. I also didn't say otherwise. However, we have separation of powers in this country. We have a judiciary, and we have a Constitutional process of trying people accused of crimes before juries. Flog this story as much as you like, but what you want me to believe is this: not only was the prosecutor nefarious and out to get these two innocent babes, but the judge, jury and defense counsel all sat back and let it happen.

Then you want to throw away the separation of powers by having the president of the United States interfere in this one judicial proceeding.

And I'm sure you consider yourself a "real" conservative.

Diane Watson.

Ugh! I met her in the early 1990's when she was running for a seat on the L.A. County Board of Supervisors against Yvonne Braithwaite Burke. I was in a position then to deliver some much-needed white votes in a race that was essentially tied in the black community. Long story. Maybe I'll tell it to you some day.

did these guys shoot people, yes or no?

Are you speaking of the two boarder guards.

I don't know? If you break into my house I would shoot you. The drug dealer broke into my house and the guards job was to protect my house.

Now if you want to bitch about they didn't file the paper work, well give them a couple of weeks off without pay.

I've looked and looked and haven't found any nasty connection between Hunter and Abramoff. I've seen plenty of allegations on FR, and each time they are challenged to support the contention, I found "no replies."

I have no tolerance for dirty politicians so if there is something there, I'd sure like to see someone support it. To date, it hasn't happened. If there isn't anything, I'd sure like to see Republicans quit smearing their own with unsupported allegations.

When there is a gross miscarriage of justice and malfeasance I would hope the POTUS would get involved before these guys are killed.

If it weren't for the "sharks, radio jocks, politicians and blogs," the Dubai ports deal would be a fait accompli, Harriet Miers would be an associate justice on the Supreme Court, amnesty for millions of illegals would already be the law of the land, the Duke lacrosse players would have been convicted and sentenced to a prison with a black majority, and so forth.

But perhaps you are nostalgic for the days of yesteryear, when the three old line networks, CNN, PBS, the big city liberal newspapers, and the liberal news magazines formed a virtual monopoly over the news and dominance over public opinion. Conservative opinion was relegated to low circulation magazines like Human Events and newsletters printed on mimeograph machines. In that event, you might find Democratic Underground a more suitable venue for your nostalgia.

Student are you?

I not only do NOT buy any music produced in the last 35+ years, but have never listened to it, of my own accord.

I began boycotting lefty made/acted in/produced movies in the mid 1960s and advocating that everyone else do so too.

I watch very little T.V. and when I do do, I watch FNC, old movies, and some other things on cable.

As for books, I come from a family of READERS and have followed in their footsteps. I've alway enjoyed being read to and reading. OTOH, you claim that you are "forced" to read some "old" books, which doesn't sound as though you are doing your part to keep real, worthwhile, AMERICAN CULTURE alive at all.

There was once a time when all Americans listened to the same music, the same radio show, saw the same movies and watched the same T.V. shows. That is no longer true. And most people are no longer familiar with old music, which is part and parcel of the very fiber of American Culture.

I bet if I named 1/2 dozen old songs, that used to be taught in every school in America, YOU would be hard pressed to know even 1/2 of them.

No matter WHAT state Europe is in today, America, from colonial days, looked across the Atlantic and copied not only their "arts", but also their fashion and more. That delegation, sent in the 1920s, was partially successful, yet you haven't the faintest idea about what I'm talking about.

This country is culturally broken. You refuse to accept that fact because you have no idea what it was like before you were born; or have forgotten.

I'm through with this discussion, because it'll take me at least three years of constant typing, to bring you up to speed and you aren't a quick learner; so perhaps more. I can't debate someone whose dearth of knowledge is so deep, that I have to keep writing Cliff's Notes to explain a simple historical point!

There is NOTHING in the Koran about female circumcision, Mohamed NEVER once talked about it and it is an AFRICAN TRIBAL thing that got cobbled onto African Islam.

You see, I at least would try to understand the entire set of facts before jumping to a conclusion that there is only a nefarious explanation

Sorry Wolfstar but you are late to this game and you didn't do your homework or "understand the entire set of facts before you jumped to the conclusion that our Congressmen were jumping off a bridge on this one.

Yes, it is very unusual for the trial transcripts not to be available a year later. No, the court reporter has no known illness. Yes, something was sealed. It was the record of the illegal that was shot at. The jury members have come out an said they were led to believe they had to have a unanimous vote, no hung jury allowed. Lots of shady things went on in this trial which makes an appeal with a good outcome suspicious too. That chance is better since Hunter, Rohrbacher, Poe, and Tancredo have gotten light on this.

If you took a day or two and read all the documentation on this case you'd understand why these congressmen are so upset.

I intend to call their offices tomorrow to get an explanation. I'll leave it at that.

BTW, you assume that if I did as you suggestion, I would come to the same conclusions as you obviously have. Maybe, maybe not.

Do you think it is okay that HLS lied to get these men convicted?

As I said multiple times, if this is true, then the former agents have nothing to worry about, because any competent defense counsel will get their convictions overturned on appeal.

She is one of the many reasons that L.A. is more racially divided than ever. It makes me sick to remember how little race-consciousness we had in my high school in the '60s and what we have now. Her website reveals that all her work as congresswoman is purely pro-black advocacy.

But Hunter is reponsible for covering up Cunningham's misdeeds?

I didn't say or imply that. If you're interested, go back and re-read what I actually wrote. I said I wonder if Hunter covered for Cunningham -- meaning made excuses for him. Not in the sense of a criminal conspiracy to cover up Cunningham's misdeeds, but in the sense of making excuses for a friend's questionable behavior.

I read the articles about that when I was looking up Hunter's positions. I am completely against his populist protectionist stance, so was really looking into that, when I found the other articles. I did NOT go looking for dirt.

I didn't save the articles and even if I had, I don't know how to post them, nor even how to make a link. But should I see then again, I will write down the names of the articles, their authors and send the info to you in FREEPmail, if that is okay with you.

IIRC, there were a couple of links to a few articles, here on FR, about the Cunningham stuff. I can ping you to those threads, I guess, but I'm not going looking for them right now.

"only was the prosecutor nefarious and out to get these two innocent babes, but the judge, jury and defense counsel all sat back and let it happen."

It's abundantly clear that the judge took an active roll in railroading these heros. The most important evidence, the field evidence, was disallowed. No fair trial is possible under such conditions.

Roger Hedgecock filled in for Rush today and very clearly implicated the Bush administration in maliciously prosecuting law enforcement for trying to enforce the law and protect our borders. He said the prosecutor (an old Texas buddy of GWB) has lied repeatedly and the judge (also an old GWB buddy) would not allow any field testimony and still has not produced a transcript of the trial eleven months later. I just hope none of the Dems running for President figure out how easy it would be to use this issue to get elected in '08...
God bless Compean and Ramos
