(CNSNews.com) - Weeks after accusing President Bush of "shameful" behavior over the imprisonment of two Border Patrol agents who shot an unarmed suspected drug smuggler along the U.S.-Mexico border, a federal lawmaker turned up the heat further Wednesday, suggesting the president should be impeached if either of the two men is murdered in prison.

Good grief. the president did not prosecute these men. Somebody oughta take a dose of STFU for a bit.

Thank you, pissant. Those two ex-agents had a trial in a court of law. They had benefit of defense counsel. The way some on talk radio, the right-wing fringe media, and opportunistic politicos like Hunter are flogging this story, one would think these guys were thrown in prison without benefit of either a trial or defense counsel.

Time and time and time and time again, these sorts of phony causes are pushed to the fore by people looking either to divide and damage Republicans, or to make a buck and/or a name off gullible people who are more passionate than they are discerning.

I heard about Hunter's empty impeachment threat tonight on the way home, and made a note to call his office tomorrow to give them a piece of my mind.

As a Californian, I am disgusted. First "real" conservative Duke Cunningham betrayed us. Now "real" conservative Duncan Hunter is trying to raise his presidential stock by betraying us. (Hunter and Cunningham were close buds in Congress. I wonder how much Hunter knew about what Cunningham was doing and if he ever covered for the crook.)

Some of us have been arguing this issue for decades. The difference is that now it has reached critical mass. It is destroying our entire culture.

Indeed it is. ...but there's another critical difference: We're now at war, and not securing our borders to the best of our ability during a time of war, especially considering (by gov't estimates) that tens of thousands of "special interest" aliens from Islamist nations have successfully crossed the border into our country since 9/11/01, is negligent in the extreme.

Bull****! THAT IS A LIE. The '86 act DID NOT provide blanket amnesty to all illegals here. That is one the big myths the Bush apologists keep repeating. We've been all over this a myriad of times thanks to the great work of Sabertooth.

Illegals could apply for legalization provided they met several criteria. Among them was that they had to be living and working in the country for at least 4 years, could not have committed any sort of major crimes, they had to provide some sort of proof or statements from their employers showing that they had been working in job during their years here in the U.S., etc.. Oh, and you can look through the entire text of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 and nowhere will you find the word "amnesty" listed. So I guess technically the politicians that voted for it can claim that they never actually gave anyone "amnesty".

The problem with Bush is that he is pushing his amnesty proposal with the benefit of hindsight as to the flaws and failures of the the '86 Act. Legalizing millions of illegals only encourages even more illegal immigration and the '86 legislation has proven that in spades.

I will ping people to threads, that contain the proof.

I just am NOT going to waste my time plunging through 8 year old threads for a pack of tinfoil wearing KOOKS. And IIRC, most of that bold tinfoil KOOKERY was deleted.

The Reagan should have been impeached...

That statement is way over the top. Reagan kicked the immigration issue down the road in order to win the Cold War. Even Reagan did not have unlimited political capital. We fought a cold war in the first place because we kicked the issue of Communism down the road in order to defeat the Axis powers. It is the flow of history. One must address the most lethal threats first.

Which he is doing, but the instant gratification crowd here, who doesn't understand HOW government works, nor what a president can and can't do, really doesn't care.

He can pardon the agents, and fire the prosecutor, for starters.

What he can't do, apparently, is come up with enough money to fund that 700 mile border fence we were promised. Much more money for Section 8 housing, though, in that huge budget he's proposing.

No, YOU get a clue, dufus.

What do you mean by "power elites of this country", anyway? Are you claiming that everyone with a bit more money and position than you, are all engaged in nefarious, illegal, criminal activities? What, people at the top are all part of a massive drug cartel and worse? Good grief! Your MARXIST class warfare garbage belongs some place other than on FR.

You slammed American culture yet you left out it's finer qualities to counter balance the ones you posted. You know what they are don't you? America's finer qualities?

Our culture has it's flaws, all cultures do.

I pointed out a different culture.

"Pharonic circumcision",

Why are you giving that a more delicate wording? It's female mutilation.

Oh, I can keep up, can you? Islamification is sweeping and spreading through countries to the south of us and into mexico. Guess what tactic M15 are using...beheading.

We have our flaws as I said, but, I'll take our hip-hop, movie watching one over any other on this planet.

You are just nuts!

Actually, I am a normal, middle class, conservative who has closely observed the scene for the past twenty years, and has come to conclusions that seem obvious, sad to say. You are free to form your own conclusions - try to make sense of this.

"I heard about Hunter's empty impeachment threat tonight on the way home..."

Don't you have Hunter mixed up with Rorabacher? You don't seem very informed for somebody who has no problem trashing CA Congressmen and trying to paint them all as corrupt Republicans. In fact, you sound a lot like a Democrat.

Bottom line -- IMHO this stuff has gone on for a long time, just that with the internet we all know just how dirty our government is, something they managed to hide with help from the MSM in the past.

The Dems think the GOP is corrupt and we all think the rats are corrupt and it is beginning to look that it doesn't make a dimes worth of difference. Our government is so in the pockets of big business and much more so, when push comes to shove, it really comes down to who is outright socialists (as the rats are) or not because both parties are willing to sell us down the tubes for power.

I'm with you. Impeachment is not appropriate, but it would be shameful. But its a moot point since the former agent has been removed from the general population. One would think that people would have better things to do than propose silliness like this.
