PHILADELPHIA (AP) - February 7, 2007 - State Sen. Vincent J. Fumo pleaded not guilty Wednesday to federal charges he used state workers and a nonprofit group for his personal and political benefit, and surrendered more than 200 firearms as a condition of his bail.
Fumo declined to comment as he entered the federal building. His lawyer, Richard A. Sprague, scheduled a news conference for Thursday.
Fumo was released on a $100,000 bond after agreeing to surrender more than 200 weapons - including collectible firearms and VERY LARGE MACHINE GUNS - from his various homes. They will be kept in vaults at two firearms dealers, prosecutors said.

Here's a Philadelphia Demo-commie finally busted for flagrant abuse of the public trust. His first act? Turning over his firearms..........more than 200 of them! Included were machine guns. The Philadelphia political machine is pressing hard to ban weapons for you and me, as their murder rate soars. They, of course, reserve the right to stay armed to the teeth. This gun thing will barely be mentioned by the MSM, and will be forgotten completely in a day or two, bacause, dammit, it's one of their own.........and telling the truth would look just awful.

Okay, but what was Fumo's history on PA gun legislation? Was he some kind of gun dealer or collector?

What speeches has he made about guns and gun control? What are his positions? (I know, he's likely a hypocrite as well).

Here, ,I found it on Googlein about 5 seconds.
"Senator Fumo favors strong measures to keep firearms out of the hands of criminals, without infringing on the rights of law-abiding citizens to own guns.
He was the primary author of the 1995 Pennsylvania Uniform Firearms Act, which is regarded around the country as model legislation. It was endorsed by both the National Rifle Association and Sarah Bradys organization, Handgun Control Inc.
The law created a system of instant computerized background checks for all firearms sold in Pennsylvania. The background checks apply to all types of firearms (not just handguns) and must be conducted for private sales as well as sales at established retail locations.
The law defined a broad range of crimes for which a person can be denied a firearm, including certain crimes committed as a juvenile, and repeated citations for driving under the influence of alcohol. It also denies the right to purchase firearms to those adjudicated mentally incompetent.
The legislation also gave additional tools to law enforcement authorities to prosecute those who commit crimes with guns.
Senator Fumo believes strong enforcement combined with tough penalties for those who use firearms in the commission of criminal acts are the best solutions to the problem of gun violence."
The guy wasn't a gun grabber, why are you trying to mislead people on FR?

Maybe I'm just a piker, but in my book 200+ guns including machine guns qualifies you as a "collector".
To: weeder
Why did he have to give up the guns?
Were they illegal in Pennsylvania?
To: weeder
They will be kept in vaults at two firearms dealers, prosecutors said. They will be turned into manhole covers by this time next year. he ain't never gonna see them again otherwise.

Just another liberal caught (finally) in a liberal city. The law is just an obstacle for liberals....they break it whenever it is convenient for them, which is most of the time. Again, mounds of hypocrisy -- they want to disarm law abiding citizens (the general liberal objective) but they, the LAWLESS, will keep their arms, and highly illegal ones at that.
Mass HYPOCRISY. Liberalville, USA.

It shouldn't surprise anyone to see this. All one has to do is take a look at who had what in the Old USSR, currently in North Korea and Cuba and China.
In the type of state these liberals are pushing us toward, they are the royalty and the rest of us are the serfs. We will have equality in misery, that's the only way to ensure life has a measure of fairness. Life fairly sucks for all the citizens outside of a representative republic.

Don't honestly know his position on firearms. Unless he's a schizophrenic, I would hope he's pro-gun. But I'm bugged because he has SEVERAL LARGE MACHINE GUNS...........and I have none. Life does not always seem fair.
