Earlier in the week the Original DC Chapter Freeper, MrConfettiMan, passed away from a long battle with brain cancer. The DC Chapter would like to dedicate this Freep to him...and many more in the future.
It was cold...It was real cold...It was colder than a [SMACK! OUCH! ... Rubbing chin.] Okay, I'll start over. It was cold. It was colder than a ... Now hold on just a minute! Put your hand down. I was going to say, "colder than a" and then provide a link for illustration purposes. Okay? It was colder than this. BRRRRRR! Gotcha shivering good now, didn't I?
Actually, I didn't think it was too bad temperature wise. At least for the first hour-and-a-half. But after a while it starts to wear on ya. But you make do.
---------
A woman driving northbound on Georgia Ave past the gate and noticed us. She decided to turn around and see what we were up to. Her name is Stacey. Turns out her husband, stationed at Andrews AFB, is an Iraqi war veteran. Her and her husband's best friend is a patient at Walter Reed. She stayed and talked with us for quite a while and we found out she runs a website to help provide assistance to visiting families of Walter Reed and Bethesda patients to get reduced price accommodations, restaurant vouchers, and whatever else they can think of to make it easier on the families budgets. Stacey said her website will be down until sometime next week. But when it's back up please visit:
You never know. There might be something you can do to help out.
This is Randolph on the left. Randolph is from San Antonio. He isn't a registered Freeper yet. But I'm pretty sure he fully intends to. He just got in town. Arlington Va to be more precise. That's still a little bit of a drive or ride on the bus or subway to get to Walter Reed. He'll be here for about 6 months. Just got in town and straight away he made an effort to come out on a cold night and stand with us to support the troops.
God bless you, Randolph!
--------- We received the usual positive response from most all the passing pedestrians and cars. There was one negative drive-by, though. A guy in a GMC Yukon yelled as he sped by, "The war is a fake!" --------- Traffic was lighter than usual. A pretty uneventful night.
A few obligatory picks of the Code Pinkos forever relegated down the street.
FOR CRIMINY SAKES! WE FORGOT TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE BUS RETURNING FROM DINNER!
Oh well, here's one from last week.
We'll be back out at Walter Reed Friday night, February 9th, from 6:30 until at least 9:30 at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Elder Street, NW in Washington, D.C. If you can make it to at least the Takoma Metro Station we'll come pick you up.
We've heard many stories from family members, patient advocates, and from the troops themselves of how much they appreciate our support. It really means a lot to them to see ordinary John and Jane Q. Publics displaying appreciation for the service and sacrifice they've made on our behalf. (Add keeping the anti-war pinkos away from the gate.) I'm not telling you this for my benefit. I'm telling you this for yours. If you live in the local area, come out and tell 'em thanks. Do it for yourself. Do it for them.
If you can't get to D.C. but would like to do something for the wounded, contact by FReepmail Albion Wilde, Cindy-True-Supporter, VAFlagwaver or PleaDeal.
If you can't stand seeing anti-war, communist backed, 60's throwback hippies and self-absorbed, ungrateful Gen-X'ers defiling the memories of those who gave all in Vietnam - join us for the Counter ANSWER march on the Pentagon on March 17th! Just A Nobody will be keeping us abreast of all the latest details on this thread. Stay tuned!

Don't think I was attacking you; I was just trying to point out Bush's promises were more far reaching than just tax cuts...
Hm, I think you intended your comment to a different thread, AmericanDave! This one is pretty much just about troop support at Walter Reed! :-D
To you and all who stand with you - thank you. Especially thankful for this dedication to Mr. ConfettiMan. Heroes, MCM, and all of you! God bless each of you!
FReeper bump
Yeah! And I got there in time to lead it and see the bus arrive. ;*)
