Supposedly as a result of threats by the group Students for a Democratic Society, UCLA has canceled a debate organized by the student group L.O.G.I.C., which was scheduled to include Carl Braun of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. Furthermore, L.O.G.I.C. has been informed it is responsible not only for the security within their events, but also for any disturbances caused by them, effectively censoring the club from having any controversial events in the future.
More information is included in the original source.
But haven't you heard? Conservatives are crushing freedom of speech.
Interesting tactic--banning "dangerous speech".
I've gotta give it to the left--they're taking totalitarianism to new, undiscovered heights.
I like it.
Why would anybody with conservative ideas schedule a debate at UCLA?
...so basically all you have to do to shut down *any* event at UCLA now is threaten violence. This is exactly how terrorism works.
Well that's good to know since schools are so interested in recruiting Terrorists...
i thought the SDS went out along wi the 60's...
Almost correct.
At the end of the 60's, the SDS went out, and got professorships...right along with Angela Davis.
It was only Jack(?) Rubio who ended up tending bar.
Why we hate the left.
Someone in the state legislature should get after the UC system about this. So should Arnold. I know, I know ...
We need to support L.O.G.I.C., big time.
"The left's idea of "free speach" = shouting down those who oppose them."
Is it just me, or are they threatening to fine the wrong group? You have a Students for a Democratic Society (who ironically expresses itself through violence) threatening the event, and the sponsoring group just bringing in the speaker has to pay for it? Hardly.
Talk about completely backwards...
yeah, and get movie actress meal tickets and senator gigs like that FPOS hayden did.
