What market segment would that be? The Camry/ES350, Accord/TL, Maxima, Altima, and every other midsize $24,000-$34,000 car is V6 FWD.
The only RWD cars that compete with the Taurus/500 are the Dodge Charger/Magnum and maybe the Crown Vic/Grand Marquis.

The 500 (as well as the Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger) is aimed at the slightly larger than midsize segment, which is currently defined by Toyota with their Avalon.
The Maxima, by the way, is not in the midsize segment and hasn't been since the second generation Altima. The Altima is now the Nissan Camry competitor.
