San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom told department heads this afternoon he is seeking counseling for alcohol abuse, sources familiar with the meeting told The Chronicle.
Newsom told members of his administration that the help he is seeking would not require him to step aside even temporarily as it might if he entered a residential rehabilitation program, according to the sources.

I just love this - racist comments - rehab. Get caught in the wrong bed? Rehab. In fact, do anything at all wrong - rehab - what a joke.

Thanks. She's a beautiful girl, but doesn't look 20. More like 30.

It's called "The Triumph of the Therapeutic" in a 1960's book of the same name. The evasion of personal responsibility through the replacement of character defects by "mental illness."

A National Plan for Scumbag Politicians:
Screw anyone you want to, take bribes, hit on teenage pages, crash your car under the influence.... just about anything you do wrong, just announce (tearfully) that you have a substance abuse problem and enter "treatment" -- then you're off the hook.

Hey, it worked for Miss USA, Foley, etc.
Even express an opinion and end up in rehab. As I recall John Rocker was required to attend sensitivity training for daring to express his opinions.

That's because this girl, Jennifer is 32. You are thinking of his previous gal, who was 19-almost-20. Name was Brittanie Mountz.

The man gets around. Any pics of the 20-year-old?

This is a ploy to get sympathy. Whenever a famous person does something bad or says something bad they almost always blame it on alcohol or drugs. Going into rehab makes it sound like you are doing something to correct your bad behavior. I note also he is only going to be an "outpatient" at the rehab center. I think if he really wanted to get cured he would be a full time patient. It is obvious he is trying to save his political career.
