On January 30, 2007, William M. Arkin wrote a sickening commentary titled The Troops Also Need to Support the American People, which appears on the Washington Posts website.
In this disgusting piece, Arkin ponders the thoughts and obvious dismay of our American heroes the troops in battle in Iraq in an NBC Nightly News story in which soldiers from Ft. Lewis, Washington, now stationed in Iraq, expressed frustration at the American media, and the left-wing and anti-American protesters hell-bent on undermining their life-or-death mission. Arkin, himself frustrated with the news that these valiant heroes clearly disapprove of his own ilk, says,
and the recent NBC report is just an ugly reminder of the price we pay for a mercenary - oops sorry, volunteer - force that thinks it is doing the dirty work. Vice President Spiro Agnews effete corps of impudent snobs description, virtually every word of it, seems tailor made to describe this wretch of a man, Arkin.

To sum up Arkin: "This piece of human debris is an embarrassment and a coward." And as such the Washington Post tries to expand his sphere of influence.
He is certainly entitled to his own thoughts on this, as I am. My thoughts are that he is an a$$clown that ought to be horsewhipped at high noon in Times Square by a buck private in the Army. That might help him get his focus back.
Update:
Radio Factor today... BOR on Arkin and the network's lack of concern in their response (with Juan Williams)

Just saw this on O'Reilly. Thanks Bill.
This man Arkin deserves the most expreme censure: send him to Baghdad so that he can personally see who our heroes feel.
And BTW---No more NBC --- whatever this corporation sells we are not interested...and will let all sponsors know. GE is one of them
General Electric contacts:

I've been looking but can't find any bio info on Wm. Arkin; I'm guessing he writes also for the LA Times (uggh) because he's related to Alan Arkin, a sometime Hollywood actor.
And another thing: anybody familiar with the family of Tim Robbins? Is that his real name? If so, is he related to Harold Robbins (a friend/guard/confidant of Leon Trotsky, in Mexican exile)?
O'reilly tore Arkin and NBC a new one tonight. An impressive raking over the coals.
This scumbag is worse than Anti-American. He is also your employee. I will push to see that that situation changes.
Part of what I wrote to GE a minute ago.
I wrote to GE and the Washington Post. Good grief I am so angry I can spit farther now than ever before in my life! There isn't much we can do, especially since we are troop supporting, flag waving, patriots. This guy writes for the WA Post, owned by NBC, owned by GE. We were considering GE appliances and mechanical components for the house we are about to build. Aint happenin' now, and I told GE that. I'm one teeny tiny speck in a huge machine, but at least I can do a speck's worth of protest from the wallet.
Please ping everybody you can about this outrage!
Ping, bump, and all that jazz!
Tim Robbins is the son of Gil Robbins, a member of the muscial group, the Highwaymen.
Arkin is a scuzbucket who's about to face the music, big time.
Hit KING-5, hit anything remotely NBC-related.
O'Reilly, I would guess, is just getting started on that waste of oxygen.
Did you see O'Reilly tonight? I admit I don't watch him often, but I was glad I had the TV on THIS night, at dinner preparation time. =) I about laughed my ass off when the guy asked for a BUSINESS CARD from the Fox reporter! PRICELESS!
Saw the clip -- and O'Reilly didn't let up tonight, either. In fact, I couldn't believe it when I heard that the Washington Post doesn't think it owes anyone an apology.. Apologies are a dime a dozen anyway........
Wonder what GE's going to do... They have alot of military contracts. How can they justify this crap?? Arkin needs to be shown the door.......
