I vote for global warming

I vote for global warming

Let's hope we're heating the Earth because it's going to get colder

Sunday, February 04, 2007

For the past two weeks the weather in Pittsburgh has been typical for January -- it's snowed almost every day. And for the first time this winter I've heard complaints about the weather at work. I heard none during our unseasonably warm December.

I note this to put in perspective the latest scare report on global warming from the United Nations. Average global temperatures could rise by 2 to 4.5 degrees Celsius (3.6 to 8 degrees Fahrenheit) by 2080 if carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere double, according to the summary of an upcoming report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. This could result in flooding in coastal areas and water shortages that could affect billions of people. And this is based on hypothetical piled upon hypothetical and computer models which cannot duplicate the actual climate of the present or the recent past.

Me, too.

It's 5 degrees right now with a really nasty wind.

I'd rather be warm.

The Little Ice Age followed the Medieval Warm Period (A.D. 800-1300), when global temperatures were about as warm as the climate-change panel predicts they might be in 2080. In those days Greenland was actually green, and wine grapes grew in Nova Scotia.

Actually, grape vines from that era have been found as far north as modern Newfoundland.

There must've been a lot of fossil fuels being burned back then!

Please send me some global warming. It did not get above zero in Milwaukee today. (and that's not counting wind chill).

The major source of grapes for wine in England were the vinyards 50 miles north of London in the year 1000.

I also would like to get some of that warming. Here in New Mexico we have had more snow since Christmas than in 2005 and 2006 combined. Temperatures today finally got above 40 degrees. We still have snow and ice on the ground from Christmas.

Greenland was green once. Let's hope it is green again!

During that same time period the Muslims started acting up. When they were beaten back the Earth became cooler.

By the law of cause and effect it is clear that Muslims cause global warming!

Hey; it makes more sense than Al Gore's rambling!

It's not even that warm in Tampa - I think the temps around here got as high as 65-degrees, with a pretty steady wind from the north!

Likewise here in Colorado. In addition to the snow and ice, we have only popped up above 40 degrees a couple of times since Christmas. And it has been below freezing most of the time and three times we have been close to or below zero degrees.

One of the coldest and snowy winters I can remember.

We still have three feet piles of once snow, now ice.

Too much like Montana for me.

Wow! Does that mean instead of -15 I could actually be enjoying a balmy -12 right now? I don't know if I could stand a winter that warm.
