"When the Oakland Police Department launches its latest training academy at the end of this month, one of the fresh-faced recruits will be a familiar one."

"Erin Breckenridge, the 24-year-old daughter of Oakland City Administrator Deborah Edgerly, is scheduled to make an unprecedented fourth attempt at completing the 24-week academic and physical training program."

So the past year and a half of her life she has been taking classes to be a copy and failing?

Do they get paid for the time they're taking classes? Nice racket for her if they do!

The fix is in! After what the police chief has said, she will become a police officer, or heads will roll.

If she is shaped like Mom I'm sure she dies on the obstacle course.

I wonder what her mother would say if she were allowed to pass, cornered some 200 pound guy who had done prison time, and got her face smashed in when he clocked her.

Being a cop in a big city with real mean people can be an unpleasant job for those not physically gifted to do it.

While I will acknowledge that they may be treating her poorly because they hate her mother, a 6 foot fence could be the least of her problems if she ever passes the academy.

If that is her picture I think I know what the problem is! Could you imagine getting her to run 100 yd dashes?

She has failed to complete the training requirements in two academies and walked out of a third after just one day -- while managing to keep a job with the department since her first try more than two years ago.

Just another no show job.

How did I so know it was the physical part of the program that was kicking her butt?

Don't worry, they'll wave it.

that's the word, then it must have come from Edgerly, who has stepped in to question the department's training methods and suggested making changes on more than one occasion.

After Breckenridge's second attempt failed, Edgerly questioned whether it was fair to require women to scale a 6-foot-high wall, and the requirement was dropped for men and women.

This time around, the department has chosen to eliminate its traditional physical training weekend, which is usually held the second week of the academy. Officially, it's described as a physical, two-hour experience designed to promote teamwork and team building.

The mother sounds like Archie Manning.

Ok, flame away but I googled her image, too. Wonder what seat she holds in the local NAACP. That's the only reason she's getting by with this.

"After Breckenridge's second attempt failed, Edgerly questioned whether it was fair to require women to scale a 6-foot-high wall, ..."

Ah, there's the solution. Let's just make everything fair and dumb it down so that those who can meet the requirements are forced to carry the added load of those who can't meet the requirements...

And now she's onto her fourth attempt. I wonder what other requirements will be dropped until she finally makes it.

LOL! I was going to transfer a couple ridiculous passages from the article, too, but I quickly realized EVERY SINGLE paragraph is a zinger!

Come on! She cannot pass muster with this training (any more than I could). Yet she insists she is being discriminated against.

Oh, pluuuuuuzeeeeee!

City Administrator Deborah Edgerly, who earned $238,155 in 2005-06, including a $10,000 bonus from former Mayor Jerry Brown, said employee salaries were reasonable because of the high cost of living in the Bay Area.

Police story II: For the second time in two years, Oakland's top administrator has stirred up a fuss over police academy tests that, coincidentally or not, her daughter had just failed.

The most recent instance occurred last week when Erin Breckenridge, daughter of Oakland City Administrator Deborah Edgerly, was one of five cadets who failed a state-mandated pat-search test to check for concealed weapons.
