My dad passed away February 1, 2007. He was a veteran of two wars, and he was truly a hero, but you couldnt get him to agree to that, ever. Hed always say, No, I was just doing my job.
You could try, but a more patriotic man you would never find. During WWII and the Korean War, Dad was a builder of bridges and a mechanic for the planes he often times was heard referring to as, "a bucket of bolts."
He was born in Rosemont, West Virginia, the son of a coal miner. Not an educated man, he never thought of himself as very smart, but tell that to the USAF. He won an award for his invention of a valve that's now standard on all jet engines. And he devised a way to make one model work better mechanically by swapping out engine parts of another model. The Air Force deployed him all over the country, and at times overseas, to train others in this technique.
Above and beyond his service to this nation, he's my personal hero. A man dedicated to his family first and foremost. He's a true picture of what our heavenly Father intended fathers to be. There's not a time in my life when he wasn't there for me, and I know everyone in his life would say the same thing.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your family.
Prayers for you. How blessed you have been to have had such a man as your father. How blessed has our nation been to have had him as a hero.
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your dear Dad. My Dad passed away many years ago, at age 48, and seems he was much like your Dad. A truly good human being and a patriot. Keeping your Dad's good spirit in your heart and remembering happy times will help.
Your Dad, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Good Dad's are always with you, Heart.
Mine was here, showing me the way, (or trying to, smiles), for the first 20 years of my life. He worked hard to teach us, usually through our having to make "tough" choices, (I have to smile when I think back on some of them). A good number of times though, his tender heart won out. Then, all of the sudden, it became time for me to seriously get behind the wheel...
He will always be there, good company on whatever road you find yourself on.
God bless and keep you.

Prayers to you and your mother, my dear FRiend.
You will probably spend quite some time going back and forth in your head, "I know what happened...dad is gone. But it just doesn't seem possible...he's ALWAYS been here."
It's even harder, after having been a caretaker, to be left suddenly without many of your routines and responsibilities.
Hang in there. You'll get through. One day at a time.
I lost my father in WV 20 years ago this month. It does not seem possible it was that long ago. Seems like yesterday. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this difficult time.

Sorry for your loss and very grateful for his service to our country.
God be with you and yours.
I'm sorry to hear of your loss and I know how you feel. I lost my Dad four years ago to cancer. It feels like something has been taken away. I can see by your word that you are feeling the same things I did. Good luck and God Bless.
We are never truly prepared for the loss of hero's. My deepest sympathy. My hero has been gone two years now.
It took a long time to find joy in the memories, not sorrow that there were no more to be made with him....
Prayers for you and the rest of your family!
God bless you and your family.
I am so sorry..... you will always miss him but with time your heart will heal....prayers to you....He sounded like a wonderful man
