He is also not an Allen-like wannabe. He has other positive attributes, the most important of which is dealing with the MSM, many of whom fear his candidacy the most. Being a Pubbie governor in Massachusetts must be like a red head playing for the NBA.
His LDS affiliation ordinarily would be a major issue, but IMO conservatives no longer can afford or enjoy ruling out candidates with the Chinese menu approach (one from column A, two from column B and NONE from column C.)
You could very well be right. I liked Romney's charisma and the way he came across on TV the few times I've seen him. I know he has and can get the money necessary. I can't speak for others but his being a Mormon does not make a difference to me.
The areas I continue to struggle with Mitt Romney revolve around his seemingly contradictory stances on social issues as well as his bragging about his health care program in MA. It's a program that is now being shown to be a costly form of socialized medicine from what I've read. I will accept his reasons for changing to pro-life but I am still a bit confused over his recent past support for the homosexual agenda.
I am not for or against Romney. I practice what I've said to others, I'll wait and see what develops. I still believe it is too soon for us to choose our next candidate.
At this point Romney stands above the crowd. It's a long way to the nomination, though.
I may be wrong, but I don't remember anyone making a fuss about Oren Hatch being a Mormon when he ran for President.
