You are so right. Here is some real live factual data that gives the lie to the absurd nonsense spewed for by the High Priests of the Church of Rabid Environmentalism. A simply study of the historic record shows global mean temperature was 3 degrees centigrade higher from the 10th to 13th Century. "Global Warming" is a perfectly normal part of the climate cycle and has NOTHING at all to do with the effect of man on the environment.

That is a wonderful post..thank you.

I new vaguely about Huey Long...but I enjoyed reading that.

Do you want to know something even MORE scary than Webb regarding this "populist" topic??

I saw an interview on Hairball shortly after Congress came back in session in January. Trent Lott had just been voted in as Minority Whip.

Sissy Chrissy started asking Trent about something regarding the Republican party...and Trent interrupted Chrissy and said he doesn't really consider himself a Republican anymore...he says "I am more of a Populist...more of a down home country boy from Alabama, just one of the folks".

THAT is one reason my radar went crazy when I read about the Populist Caucus being formed in the Senate...

Now we have the Minority WHIP that carries the same views as Webb and Huey LONG????

Excellent points, and I would love to see Rick santorum as VP based on his ability to see what others do not including the not the chip off the old block Senator (Dumber than dirt)Casey. He is also very intelligent, Conservative, compassionate and Passionate about his ideas, values. I cannot wait for the Geezers like Warner to pack up and leave.

I also noticed that Lynne was with the VP most every trip he took. I am sure because of his Heart Condition she went along to make sure he was OK, did not overdo, and probably to make sure he did not pig out on foods that are verboten for Cardiac Patients. You cannot argue with success, he looks robust...

Yes, and his reluctance to run is a plus.

Perhaps he will see it as his duty and show his fellow citizens what a real deal he is as opposed to the Repub and Dem prom queens.

Hillary is a disturbing element in the process. When she first got to the Senate she could be seen on C-Span drifting around the Senate floor, pausing to look over the shoulders of other Senators going over a position paper, never engaging, wandering up to her seat, being stopped by staff offering her copies of bills being considered and shaking her head, no, then being seen slumped at her desk, idly tapping a pencil, or chin in hand staring off.

Her staff, in D.C. and N.Y., continued to churn out press releases about their busy, busy, oh so committed boss, whose presence in the Senater chamber was as a dissatisfied, restless member of a large group, unbearable to her and her mania for unshared power.

She is a real and present danger to our free republic because her longing for the power of the presidency goes beyond healthy ambition.

Bill Clinton knows her. His legacy to a grateful posterity would be his stopping her.

Haley could make her show her true colors. She couldn't pull her "plantation" libel on a guy from Mississippi who is repected by blacks and whites.

You are correct in the consensus of Freeper opinion on Graham. Most of the time he gets a Grade of D from Freepers. The Rat DBM does not put the Best Pro GOP Pubbies on these Shows they only put the Egotists that they can manipulate into trashing anything and everything Republican.

Mary Matalin commented on this saying the main reason was that she made him relax and more importantly they had the ability to make each laugh therefore relieving the tension during this time. That alone must of course help with anyone's heart problem relaxing and laughing is important.

It is also a great testimony to their marriage that after 40 years she is still the person who can relax and make him smile.

The media effectively shut down most of the effect of anything coming out of the adm by screaming "propoganda" amd "Bush lies".

Yesterday on Media Watch, several of the panelists used the term "smearing Joe Wilson" in discussing the Scooter Libby trial. I stopped watching when even our side used it as if it were true. Do they read or watch anything but the DBM?

I heard that E. D. Hill asked for the change that took her off of F&F. She is the mother of 8, which includes 3 step children from her third (and current) husband and their own 2 children born since they got married in 2002. The two youngest are four and three respectively. She needed something that gave her more time with them as well as better hours.

Newt has great skills - analytical, sees the whole of a subject, teacher, speaker, - but never as President.

Felt he would have a place in this administration - maybe ego got in the way ........

Nope. Not what I said. I was not the one bragging about "being a 100%er" you were. I merely pointed out the difference between passionately fighting FOR what you believe in and being a "100%er". Being passionate about something means you can understand the value of Compromise. Being a 100%er means you think Compromise is some sort of dirty word.

So will I compromise? Sure. So do you. Do it every day in your own life. Everyone does. For example, having some twit cut in line ahead of you. I compromise but NOT grabbing him by the scuff of his neck and dragging him kicking and screaming to the end of the line. That what I want to do, but as an Adult I accept the fact that my solution is not actually going to be very workable and compromise by simply verbally challenging him for cutting the line

For some bizzaro reason that mindset changes totally the second politics is discussed. Suddenly it because absolutely earth shattering important that every single issue being settle exactly the way the person feels it should be or else it the end of the world. Sorry, the real world does not work on those sorts of absolutes.

So yes I will compromise. For example, I would happily exchange a real serious border enforcement measure with serious fencing and enforcement teeth against employers of illegals in exchange for a massive overhaul, simplification and huge increase in immigration quotas that allows MANY more legal immigrants.

In order to finally get a Conservative dominated Judiciary FINALLY I will swallow my disgust and accept a Farm Bill, a n Education bill and a Medicare RX bill that spends hundred s of billions.

To win the war I will accept the President has to some time play nice with absolute scum bags like Hillary, Bill Clinton, Ted Kenndy et al. in an effort to court some "Bi partisan consensus."

What I am NOT willing to compromise is, for the sake of "playing nice together" and this need for emotional self validation, give into this rather silly notion around here that SOME how the world can be made perfect for Conservatives if they simply post longer, screamer louder or magically nominate the exactly the right candidates for election.

The best guy we will ever see in our political life was Ronald Reagan, and god bless him he was NO where near politically perfect. Today's 100%ers would be foaming at the mouth about how "Reagan is no Conservative".

We cannot win just by preaching to the choir. To win we have to bring some parts of the squishy middle, the fearful, the timid the lazy with us. Dogmatic purity and wishful thinking may make us feel good, it will not get us anywhere near where we want to go.

But I see that is far too "moderate" a postition for the modern "Conservatives" to even consider

What is up with these people??

In a word, ratings. Neither is a conservative, and both desperately long for admittance into the "popular" crowd, just like junior high.

Back in 2004 in the last six weeks of the Campaign, I had the feeling that the Breck girl was only making a half hearted campaign. He had some really strange campaign appearances in People's back yards in Florida, it made no sense, and he made no sense.

In a visual media age, physical attractiveness matters.

I agree MNJ, and have said in this forum that even though several here think Bill Richardson is a real threat, he is just too darn ugly! (In soul, as well as in body.)

I may be wrong, but I don't remember anyone making a fuss about Oren Hatch being a Mormon when he ran for President.

Snowball+hell=Hatch.
