"From the article: "

Yes, but you are suggesting they knew they were infected. Thats the difference between irresponsible dangerous behavior and criminal intent.

"Looking at your stats I wonder what other at 18% includes "

I did wonder about that myself.

Some could be children born to HIV infected Mothers, some getting it through blood transfusions, though I thought they test the blood and this has pretty much been eliminated.

18% is indeed a pretty high number and some of the above possibilities can't possibly account for all of that.

So you don't find it irresponsible behavior for people to have sex with "multiple ANONYMOUS partners"?

Actually it's logical to quarantine people with TB since it is airborne and easy to catch socially. HIV/AIDs on the other hand is difficult to contract, unless you are sharing needles or having sex with an infected person.

TB can be cured. Those carrying HIV can't be cured and remain a reservoir of infection for life. Gays who know they are infected and engage in acts that can transmit the disease are committing an act of murder in slow motion. The matter of whether it is airborne or not is red herring if you have amoral individuals willing to spread it around to satisfy their own carnal lusts. The amoral carriers need to be taken out of circulation.

Not to mention that it is unprotected anonymous sex with multiple partners. These folks are not in the dark recesses of Africa. They are in this country, where the cause of HIV/AIDS is well known and this information is distributed far and wide. They just don't care as long as they satisfy their deviant urges.

"So you don't find it irresponsible behavior..."

I just referred to it as "irresponsible [and] dangerous" in my last post. You seem to be equating it to criminal intent by referring to them as killers.

If you get pneumonia and die because your coworker decided to go to work before he was totally better that does not make your co-worker a killer. Irresponsible yes, murder no.

Thats right, quarantine them into their little "hump havens" and drug dens because these debased individuals have no qualms about infecting others.

Again with the false dichotomy. There is an option B, education.

We've been trying the education angle for over 20 years. It doesn't stop the twisted freaks who want to go "bug chasing" and "bare backing". It doesn't stop the creeps who know they are infected and seek "revenge" by infecting as many other people as possible. Those individuals are criminals.

Have you read any Michael Fumento?

Twenty years ago. he predicted the African AIDS problem of today.

I highly recommend his book The Myth of Heterosexual AIDS.
Or any of the fifty Fumento articles about AIDS from July 1986 through August 2006 are linked on this page. It's fascinating to follow 20 years of his rock-solid analysis.

TB can be cured. Those carrying HIV can't be cured and remain a reservoir of infection for life.

People still die from TB all over the world. My Grandfather died from TB.

And people are living full and productive lives with HIV thanks to the new meds available.

Gays who know they are infected and engage in acts that can transmit the disease are committing an act of murder in slow motion.

And those who knowingly do so, can be and are prosecuted under the law.

The matter of whether it is airborne or not is red herring if you have amoral individuals willing to spread it around to satisfy their own carnal lusts.

You need to go back and read this thread again to refresh your memory as to the real debate.

The argument was about quarantining people with TB or HIV.

So, I repeat, once again; TB is airborne and can be transmitted in normal social situations.

HIV cannot be transmitted in such a manner.

It requires sharing needles of having sex with an infected individual. BIG difference.

The amoral carriers need to be taken out of circulation.

Then try bringing your solution to leaders in world governments. Even the worst dictators considerer your suggestion barbaric and sick.

Quarantines work well for airborne or highly contagious diseases like TB or polio. This is a sexually transmitted disease. Quarantining is not the answer, stopping the behavior is.

How do you stop an infected individual who is bent on spreading the disease? Education and stern lectures don't work very well.

Not to worry "Pristine Christine" will handle the problem. 'Here she comes to save the day, it's Pristine Christine who's on the way...How many votes do we need, I'll deliver them with speed...Too many people suffering with AIDS, I'll cover them with my braids"

"It doesn't stop the twisted freaks who want to go "bug chasing" and "bare backing"."

You seem to be worried. Are you one of them? If not then you have little to fear.

"It doesn't stop the creeps who know they are infected and seek "revenge" by infecting as many other people as possible."

How many cases can you name? 3, 4? but you would support the stripping of liberties from millions? That makes you a much bigger threat then they ever were.

"Those individuals are criminals."

I agree. Lock them up. The other 30 odd million, leave them alone.

Wood said all of the infected men are gay and have had multiple partners, most anonymous. They also used methamphetamine, which tends to increase sexual activity.

Naw......... ya think?!

To the contrary. it is easy to reduce your chance of catching spreading HIV to practically zero with minimal effort.

Like abstinence for the gay guys whose "anonymous" sex got them infected in the first place?!

BS. The approach of leper colonies was common before effective drugs were developed to deal with the problem. Similar isolation would work for HIV. Permitting people with incurable, communicable diseases to continue to mingle with uninfected individuals is sick and barbaric.

I'm well aware of the TB problems. My family is in the U.S. because my great great grandparents both died from TB.

as these are people who are severely mentally ill to start with, and the infections they get with their wildly promiscuous deathstyles doesn't make them any saner.

I am sorry, but I must object to your statement. You are making a mockery of people who are truly mentally ill by calling these promiscuous people that. They are in full control of their mental faculties and choose to do meth and become gay.

Clearly not making an effort to reduce their risk.

Quarantining is imprisonment of the innocent.

If these 4 guys, now knowing they have a strain for which there is no known treatment, go out and have unprotected sex and they pass along the virus to others who die as a result, who is "innocent" there?

Knowingly spreading it is a criminal offense.
