Holbrook is obviously mistaken on that count, as anyone can see by reading the actual warning themselves. you've actually read the actual warning? Perhaps you can provide a link so that we can read it for ourselves.
Until then, I will take the published word of Holbrooke over your claim!
In Bush's final days, Baker's successor, Lawrence S. Eagleburger, sent a classified cable to Belgrade with instructions that the acting U.S. ambassador read it to Milosevic verbatim, without elaboration, and face to face. The Dec. 24, 1992, text, which has been widely described but not quoted before, read in its entirety: "In the event of conflict in Kosovo caused by Serbian action, the U.S. will be prepared to employ military force against Serbians in Kosovo and in Serbia proper."sourceUntil then, I will take the published word of Holbrooke over your claim!
The "Christmas warning" has been cited in numerous books and on multiple webpages. Nowhere does it say anything about Kosovo remaining part of Serbia.
Holbrooke is demonstrably mistaken.
