I notice there's no discussion about whether the guy actually had an audience.
The ratings of this show in comparison to the other shows that are still on the air. That would provide numerical proof of something fishy going on.
Another thing is the strange lack of mention of the governors political party but that could be because it is written as a local story and it is just assumed that every one knows the political affiliations of all involved.
