I would say most politicians don't want to lead, they only want the perks of office.
The U. N. aint got nothing on our Senate when it comes to preening and showboating to accomplish not a damn thing.
What senators want has never been in doubt - they, like everyone else in government - local, state, and national - want taxpayer-funded ego trips, salaries, perks, health benefits, paid vacations, "fact-finding" junkets, pensions, postal franking of re-election materials, parking spots, and all the various privileges and special treatement our government Masters have accrued to themselves over the past century of constitutional erosion and abuse.
