At least Romney understands the need to reach out to the right.
The Rudy folks are all too busy saying we're zealots for being concerned about abortion and guns and amnesty.

Romney is going to win it all! Can`t wait for him to ask Hillorat about just how she plans on taking over America`s most successful business.

"Massachusetts became center stage for the most important social issues of our time," he said, detailing his efforts to limit stem cell research, thwart same-sex marriage and curb abortion rights. "This fiscal conservative became a social conservative as well," he said. Where does Romney stand on the RKBA? What's his record in MA on 2nd amendment issues?
And how about border security? Does he support granting amnesty to illegal aliens? He better hope that doesn't happen -- tens of millions of new Democrat voters could (and would) be the deciding factor in a nation so evenly politically divided.

detailing his efforts to limit stem cell research, thwart same-sex marriage and curb abortion rights. It's astonishing (but not surprising, given the sex-saturated times) how these issues all revolve around sex. I would wholeheartedly endorse a candidate who pledged to keep sex out of politics, and embraced the Founders' idea of what government was meant for.

In 1994 Romney supported the assault weapons bill and the Brady Bill. Last nmight a FReeper posted a video of Romney talking about immigration. He didn't sound like Sensenbrenner or Tancredo, but he was a lot closer to HR4437 then McCain-Kennedy S.2611.

Nice tagline: Republicanism didn't make Conservatives a majority. Conservatism made Republicans a majority. [NEWT]
Amen.

Yep, it seems "social issues" these days translates to mean exclusively "sex issues," and the assault on the Bill of Rights is more often than not completely ignored.

Thanks RM. At this point in time Mitt is my favorite. I don't buy his recent conversion, but someone who talks like a conservative is likely to govern more conservatively, than someone who talks like and is a liberal. Furthermore, he is sharp, articulate and has mass appeal.
To: cgk
LOL, I was wondering about that myself.
To: Reagan Man
Thanks. I picked that out of Newt's speech last weekend at the 'Summit' in NH... I tried to find the transcript but it wasn't up (yet?). The speech provided on his website isn't exact, of course. It was a great one.

Really, it's gotten to the point that about half the country only cares about politics as it regards sex.
More '60s and '70s fallout.

Conservatives have serious questions concerning Romney, but as of now, if he is the GOP nominee, he'd get my vote.
