Liberals and socialists are the ultimate materialists. For every social problem their answer is more money thrown at it and more government control. They always discount the influence of spiritual and moral courage, perseverance, hard work and ingenuity.

A true liberal wants as little government intrusiveness as possible and in those rare instances where government is actually appropriate (outside of the Defense), it is most preferable for it to be involved at the lowest level possible, in keeping with the principles of a republic. What passes for this misnamed 'liberal' today is really a central planning authoritarian. Sadly, many so called conservatives also have central planning and authoritarian tendencies...many of those post here, too.
