I'd like to make it clear that I don't agree with anything this idiot has to say. I just thought y'all would enjoy insulting him. There is a link on the source page to send comments.

The author doesn't need to worry, almost all of the people in IRAQ, every one of which volunteered, is a "young Republican".

I take it this genius either fails to understand the concept of an entirely volunteer force, or supports a draft.

Boneheads like this Hightower clown never bother to get any facts before they spew this kind of excrement.
The simple fact of the matter is that military recruitments are well above where they need to be to support the present levels of infantry that Congress has authorized.
Now if he wants to make the argument that we should be funding 6 or 8 more Divisions of combat troops he'll get no argument from me but somehow I doubt this putz has thought his little article that far through.

Let's take this guy's proposal and run with it. The Demo/Commies are just itching to raise taxes. I'm all for it, as long as only Democrats are required to pay those taxes. What could possibly be wrong with that idea - the pack of Democrat thieves in Congress and in the electorate have been lusting after tax increases, so let's give it to them, but only them...

Hightower, you libtard.
"Draft Young Republicans!"
You may be surprised there are a great number of young Republicans serving right now! You have no clue because you live in a bubble.
You may also be surprised there are a great number of young Democrats serving right now! You have no clue because you live in a bubble.
And the most surprising thing is, there are now a great number of apolitical troops serving right now!
You have no clue because you live in a bubble.
This message brought to you by one of the many conservative troops serving right now that you do not know and would not care to make the effort to know.
Regards.

Jim Hightower is a gold mine of the kind of political wisdom that people with poor educations lacking the ability to think logically love to post on left wing blogs.
His reasoning makes as much sense a telling a critic of over population; that if they were sincere then they should kill themselves.

Any young Republican who says Support Our Troops should become one. Surely, sir, you can find a mere 20,000 of them willing to sign up for your noble cause. The least you can do is ask them. Or are you afraid of what theyd say?Where in hell does this guy think the troops come from?

Supporters of this war will be the ones surging. Liberal weenie cowards aren't in the military since it's an all volunteer force.

Jimmuh Peanuts Carter Hightower is nothing more than a Democrat shill.
He's been a complete anal retentive with Hemorrhoids for many years now.
Like most Democrats he doesn't care much for his country nor the young men fighting so he run his big loud mouth.

Ok, my proviso is that all Democrat voters have $30,000 added to their annual Federal income-tax bill since they love taxation so much.

As a retired 22 year combat Army veteran whose recruiter forgot to tell him about the REMF jobs, I have one thing to say to this burqa-wearing, Commie girlyman. I'll be using a quote from his idol, Slick Willie. "Kiss it!"
Hightower is right on one point though. DEMOCRATS are a bunch of sniveling cowards who refuse to die for anything. ESPECIALLY FREEDOM!!!

Mr. Hightower suggests that he would support a troop surge if those who presently support the war were the ones actually doing the fighting. Mr. Hightower opines that young Republicans should be drafted to fight if they support the war so much. Although, I suspect there are many supporters of the war on terror who do not consider themselves Republicans, I do agree with Mr. Hightower in one respect. Only those who support the war should be asked to fight it. Fortunately, the Congress, the President, and the American people share that opinion, since the last time I looked, which was when I put on the uniform this morning, we do have an all volunteer military.
Mr. Hightower, can sleep soundly tonight, knowing it is in fact those who support the war effort and those who consider it a noble cause that are doing the fighting, and when necessary, the dying. No one is asking Mr. Hightower, to shed one tear, one bead of sweat, or one drop of blood. While Mr. Hightower, is sipping his morning coffee and gloating over what Im sure he perceives as his latest rhetorical masterstroke, better men than he will be strapping on body armor, and loading magazines into M-16s, and going out to face those very horrors of war that Mr. Hightower describes. Some of these men and women will in fact die, in the defense of freedom, but lest Mr. Hightower, be tempted to feel the slightest bit of sympathy for, or gratitude toward, those fallen heroes, he neednt bother, for I can assure him, they are almost universally young Republicans and other assorted war supporters.

What I said in a post about a William Arkin blog applies here...After reading the entire article, I can only take comfort hoping that Arkin/Hightower will be one of the first victims when the terrorist homicide bombings begin in the US. It is their ilk that are too freaking ignorant to understand that they will be the first targets of the extremists.

To: KarinG1
The only reason I am not in uniform now is I am out of shape and am working on that now (plan on going into Naval Intelligence after school). But hey if they will take me now I can be packed and ready by Monday. I tried to tell the recruiters that I did not need to be able to run quickly because a bullet is faster then any runner on earth :)

Draft Young RepublicansI'll go but only if I can bring a Young Democrat to use as cover.
Hey, they wouldn't be fighting! I thought being a human shield was honorable to them?
Heck, thinking about it more, I'm sure Hummer drivers would love to have some Young Democrats as human shields. They could finally make a contribution to the war effort in a way they will feel comfortable with.
