A St. Charles man obtained fully automatic weapons and tried to buy as many explosives as possible in preparation for what an associate called "war," the FBI says in court documents.
He bought three rifles and a Claymore anti-personnel mine and negotiated for a case of hand grenades, documents obtained by the Post-Dispatch show.
Mousa M. Abuelawi, 22, of Franjoe Court, was arrested Dec. 29 and charged on complaints accusing him of three counts of illegal possession or distribution of a machine gun and conspiracy to violate machine gun statutes.
Abuelawi, a Palestinian immigrant free on $50,000 bond, could not be reached. His brother declined to comment on his behalf. His lawyers, Scott Rosenblum and Gil Sison, did not return calls.
The context of the word "war" was not explained in court filings; the FBI declined to comment.

Where does one buy a Claymore mine? Mines-R-Us?
Abuelawi, a Palestinian immigrant free on $50,000 bond, could not be reached.
Probably taken into hiding by the local al Qaeda cell.

Mousa M. Abuelawi You mean he wasn't a white christian male? How can that be? The liberals will scream bloody murder over this racial profiling. Who on earth could he have been planning to make war on? [/sarcasm]

But his travel agent says he may have gone overseas on vacation. "I'm sure he'll be back in town real soon," said Achmed Bin Fibbin of the Magic Carpet Travel Service.

"Abuelawi was arrested Dec. 29. He has appeared in federal court in St. Louis multiple times, including a status conference on Monday. At that hearing, U.S. Magistrate Judge Audrey Fleissig told Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Drake that prosecutors had 30 days to obtain a grand jury indictment against Abuelawi or she would dismiss the charges."

You pinged?
Your ping means you have a point?
Your point is that you support efforts to infringe on our right to own & carry arms?
Fancy that.

No point. If I was trying to make a point, I would have posted one. Just pinging you to see if you had any comments. I thought it might make good conversation.

Yeah... don't we have laws against this kind of stuff already? Looks like criminals can still get their hands on anything they want. Doesn't this leave us law abiding types kinda at a disadvantage? Should we legal residents and taxpayers have at least as much opportunity as the criminals?
$50k bail? Sheesh... this country is picking up speed in it's downward slide.

Then my comment is, that ~if~ you support efforts to infringe on our right to own & carry arms, it ~would~ indeed make good conversation.
Can you agree?

Here's a quandary. Was he exercising his Second Amendment rights?

Was he exercising his Second Amendment rights?Possibly... the article doesn't say if he was a legal immigrant, if he was purchsing the arms legally, or if he was "a member of a militia".
(Geez, that flippant final remark just made me realize that the Lefties just might support a Palestinian militia member's 2A rights more than those of a US citizen.)
