Radical Islamist movements like Al-Qaeda and the Talibans are indeed insane murder cults.

But how to distinguish between Islamofascists, Fundamentalist Muslims, Moderate Muslims and Secularized Muslims?

Even if this is tricky I'd like to suggest that;

RADICAL MUSLIMS

- Support and carry out deeds of terror in the name of Islam.

FUNDAMENTALIST MUSLIMS

- View the teachings of Islam like an irrefutable authority EVEN in each and every social/societal area, standing above ideals like "Democracy" and "Human Rights". Saudi Arabia is today governed by such principles, even though it is an aristocratic, tradition bound oligarchy sooner than a theocracy.

MODERATE MUSLIMS

- Embrace ideals like the UN declaration of Human Rights and believe in democracy as the one and only legitimate source of political power, while they also believe Islam is able to co-exist with such notions and institutions.

SECULARIZED MUSLIMS

- might celebrate Ramadan and such things but do not believe to a large degree in the teachings of Islam or might not even believe in God at all. Many such "Muslims-in-name-only" eat pork and drink alcohol and do not consider such things to be a "sin".

Islamofascists might be able to convert some members from the other categories of Muslims from time to time to their insane ideology, but I personally believe very dramatic changes will have to take place before it can happen on a broader scale.
