Deep inside, Rudy is a Democrat.

It really would be a hoot to see the Democrats scrambling should Giuliani run as a Democrat...!

..kind of like Lieberman--only on a national level...

The personal skeletons that can kill Rudy in the heartland and South naturally didn't resonate in NYC.

Also, the NYC media hating Rudy in favor of Dinkins is much different than the national press doing likewise in favor of Hillary.

A 20 year old DUI almost derailed GWB in 2000. It's a safe bet that Rudy has far, far worse skeletons in his closet.

Dear WhistlingPastTheGraveyard,

"It's a safe bet that Rudy has far, far worse skeletons in his closet."

Mr. Giuliani has led a pretty public life. What skeletons remain hidden in his closet may not approach the level of the skeletons about which everyone already knows.

I'm not sure that the personal stuff will ding him as much as some anti-Giuliani folks think, although I think that it will have perhaps a bit more of an effect than the rudybots think.

Not that either of them has a chance to get the nomination (which is why you picked them, I know), but it doesn't matter. Giuliani's personal life is a hell of a lot more interesting than any other candidate in the field. And that's putting it mildly.

"Deep inside, Rudy is a Democrat."

Rudy's a Republican and has been one for years.

You can say he's not as conservative as you, but you aren't the one who get's to say who's Republican and who is not.

Regardless, if the election was today he gets my vote.

And he'll get my vote in the primaries and general election if someone better doesn't come along.

Right now, out of all the candidates, he's the best.

Obviously, lol, the MSM will bring out the bones of all Republican candidates.

My point being, who can take it? Who cannot? Who can fight back? Who cannot?

And since my one and only giant soapbox for over a decade has been the MSM, (I'm in the minority and believe that they are our greatest enemy, and have run this country for 40 years, and should be completely destroyed), I'm looking forward to seeing which one of these strong candidates can defeat them, or at least who can give them a black-eye or even run a stake thru their commie-vampire hearts.

Which candidate will fold under their smears, and "change" in any way because they ask him too, which one will do their bidding, ect?

Of course McCain has already failed my test, years ago, and I am waiting anxiously to see how Romney and Rudy do on a National level, Hunter has already proved he can fight back, but can he go further? And so has Newt to a lesser extent, since he resigned under MSM pressure, let's see if he has toughened up since then.

ROTFLMAO!

On the 1st thread announcing that he'd filed, I facetiously asked "Which party?". Little did I know that it was a legitimate question!

And the omission raises the question of whether Giuliani is leaving the door open a crack to run not as a Republican at all, but as an independent.

Uh-oh. LOL.

Dude -- when the guy who is "still the only candidate who will beat the Psycho Whore" isn't even willing to acknowlege that he's a freaking Republican, then you've gotta admit that we have a bit of a problem here.

Maybe he is just waiting for his endorsements from NARAL, Planned Parenthood, Queer Nation and NAMBLA.

Don't forget the Brady Campaign. Sarah loves Rudy too.

Great posts, CB----please keep on posting.

Fact is Julie-annie was once a registered Democrat.... And has endorsed several liberal Democrats, like ultra-liberal Mario Cuomo. Cuomo was running for his third term as NY governor, and lost, despite then-Mayor Giuliani's endorsement. The look on Rudy's face when Cuomo read his concession speech was priceless.

Rudy has said, "Most of Clinton's policies are very similar to most of mine."

During Giuliani's run for the NY Senate against Hillary, a chapter of the National Organization of Women endorsed him over Hillary Clinton. You read that right, in 2000 the Dulles Chapter of NOW endorsed Giuliani over Hillary Clinton.

BTW, Rudy is an equal opportunity election loser---most of the Republicans Rudy campaigned for lost, as well.

That report was meaningless.

The fact is, Rudy is a Republican and for as far back as I can remember, has always been a Republican.

Until someone better comes along and I think that person can beat Hillary, I will support Rudy.

Guiliani might run as a DEMOCRAT?!

not likely,

but interesting.

He would not have to change a single position.

You might want to read the article at the top of this tread. Apparently, Rudy doesn't seem to think that he's a Republican. You might want to call him up and ask him what he is?

I don't have the time to stay and do serious battle, but, I will occasionally poke into the Rudy threads. In my opinion, the passion for Rudy is mostly driven by emotion. Rudy is the Republican version of Bill Clinton.

Dear longtermmemory,

"Guiliani might run as a DEMOCRAT?!"

I don't really think that that's what this is about.

But the campaign assures that this wasn't an oversight, and so one is left asking the question, "Why?"

The only problem there is that he deliberately left his part affiliation blank. He's either playing games here, or he's being deliberately evasive so as to leave his options open.

I agree with you, I think at this stage of the game it is mostly emotion.

Emotion of not wanting to lose-electability
Emotion of 9/11-rudy in front of the camera
Emotion of disliking minority status - win at all costs.

In fact, I think much of the early stage is emotional. We saw some serious passion with the Irey (vs Murtha) and the Harris (vs Nelson) campaigns and bother were thumped in their elections.
