"Squeeze Iran"
By Kenneth R. Timmerman
FrontPageMagazine.com | February 9, 2007

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A sea change is beginning to occur in Iraq: for the first time since the insurgency took off, the terrorists are starting to run."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The terrorists are on the run for one reason only: they fear the United States.

“In Tehran, they are now referring to the United States as mar-rouye domesh vastadeh – the Cobra standing on his tail,” says Shahriar Ahy, an Iranian-born political analyst who helped build the post-war broadcasting network in Iraq.

The sea-change began on January 10, when President George W. Bush announced that the United States would no longer tolerate Iranian and Syrian intelligence officers using Iraq as a playground for their murderous games.

When he announced the troop surge in Iraq, Bush also put Iran and Syria on notice."

"U.S., Iraqi security forces tighten grip on Baghdad"
Miami Herald ^ | 2/9/2007 | Leila Fadel

Posted on 02/09/2007 1:28:37 AM PST by Hadean

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "BAGHDAD - Iraqi police took over Shiite Muslim militia checkpoints Thursday at the main entrances to Baghdad's sprawling Shiite slum of Sadr City, one of many signs that the city's new security plan was beginning to take effect.

More Iraqi and American troops were on the streets, new barricades were in place and raids were under way around the city. Residents had trouble leaving their neighborhoods because of the new checkpoints, newly resurrected concrete blast walls, and Iraqi troops and police lined up on neighborhood roads."

"Study Says Iran Textbooks Urge Martyrdom"
Feb 8th - 2:09pm

By THOMAS WAGNER Associated Press Writer

LONDON (AP) - Textbooks used in Iran's schools are instilling students with hatred toward the West, especially the United States, and urging them to become "martyrs" in a global holy war against countries perceived to be enemies of Islam, a new study says.

An Iranian human rights activist, Ghazal Omid, praised the findings, saying they prove hard-liners in Iran are using the books to turn children into "ticking bombs.""
