The Rudy Giuliani Presidential Exploratory Committee announced today that Ed Goeas, Dave Sackett and Brian Tringali from The Tarrance Group, a prominent research and strategic consulting firm, are joining the committee as its pollsters.
Goeas and partners Sackett and Tringali currently also serve as pollster to five Republican Governors, ten U.S. Senators, and forty-two Republican Members of Congress.
“We’re thrilled The Tarrance Group has come on board and will lead our polling efforts. Ed Goeas, Dave Sackett and Brian Tringali are truly superior in their field, have stellar reputations and make an outstanding addition to our team,” said Brent Seaborn, Strategy Director to the Exploratory Committee.
Ed Goeas said, “Following an election where the question on many voters’ mind was ‘can Republicans govern,’ I am excited about working with a man that has such a strong record of conservative governance and leadership with results.”
Ed Goeas is President and CEO of The Tarrance Group. He is perhaps best known as the Republican pollster for the “Battleground Poll,” which, of the national public polls, has come the closest in three of the last four presidential elections in matching the actual election results. He has been widely published in professional and academic journals, including the Yale Law and Policy Review, on a variety of public policy issues based on his national research. In 1994, he was recognized by Democrat and Republican members of the American Association of Political Consultants as "Pollster of the Year.”
Dave Sackett has an extensive background in campaign strategy, political media and message development, and demographic targeting. He currently serves as the pollster and strategic consultant for over fifty Republican Governors, U.S. Senators, Members of Congress, and State leaders, and served as member of the Bush-Cheney ’04 polling team.
Brian Tringali has been a senior advisor to many successful statewide and congressional Republican campaigns throughout the country. During the 2004 presidential campaign, he conducted tracking in key Midwest states including Minnesota, Michigan and Ohio.
From what I saw on the site I will give him credit for a--
+ strong stance on the WOT/military and the border situation.
Nonetheless, his modulated personality, lack of aggressive thinking, no management experience, lengthy time of Congressional service with little name recognition leads me to believe he is not ready to be a prime time player.

You were at Mary Fallin's Watch Party for the Run-off and I told several people I was with when Mary thanked you as her consultant that no wonder she ran such a great campaign. I was so glad when she was elected even though I live in the 4th District just south of the metro. I think that Mary is going to make a terrific Congresswoman and in fact, had her sign in my yard here in Norman. On election night, Mary granted a telephone interview to my daughter who is on staff at the OU Daily which thrilled her to no end. Their deadline was too early to be there in person and Mary was gracious enough to grant her the interview.
Frank Keating will be speaking at our OK Convention on Friday night. Really miss him being the Governor. When our family was transferred to OK because of the closure of Kelly AFB, TX, in January 97 our statewide office holders were Republican. Wish we had another Frank Keating in the wings!
Giuliani/Barbour ticket would suit me just fine. I was hoping that Barbour would run for President before Katrina as well. I loved him when he headed RNC. I would love to see Frank Keating as Attorney General while we are at it.
Have followed The Tarrance Group and you on TV all through the 2000 campaign and was very impressed with what you had to say and have been everytime I have heard you speak since. A good friend of mine from FL was part of the campaign and enjoyed helping him out a lot of times by posting on here in support of now President Bush. Another friend I learned to know from those days was recently hired by Rudy's campaign. He taught me more about the Internet then I thought I would ever know.
Rudy spoke here at OU's winter Convocation the other year and he was great. First time I have ever seen a speaker that President Boren, OU's Faculty Senate, students, parents, people from the community, and high schools kids were all on the same page when Rudy spoke. Everyone around me was talking about he should run for President. He was so impressive but yet down to earth like he was talking to each individual person. Very seldom have heard anyone speak that held everyone's attention.
Would love to hear you expand on why you decided to become a consultant for Rudy -- all I know is that I was very happy when I saw you had joined his team.

I'm impressed you guys were on so late -- I was checking press clips from Rudy's California trip. BTW We are also the pollster for Haley in his re-election campaign this year and while the haven't used the term "America's Governor" yet, I don't think he would be seen as a Southern Governor from a small state. Like Rudy he is bigger than life!
YES! Haley Barbour is just so fantastic, I practically drool over him...lol. He's a good and decent man and of course, he has kept every campaign promise.
I'm curious, do you know if Haley Barbour is supporting Rudy in the primaries?
My governor, Haley Barbour is running for reelection right now, so I doubt he'll endorse anyone until after his own reelection is secured.

As Tom Bevan of RealClearPolitics has pointed out, Rudy is an adherent of the same approach to illegal immigration that John McCain, Ted Kennedy, George Bush, and Harry Reid have championed:
"While McCain has taken heat for his support of comprehensive immigration reform, Rudy is every bit as pro-immigration as McCain - if not more so. On the O'Reilly Factor last week Giuliani argued for a "practical approach" to immigration and cited his efforts as Mayor of New York City to "regularize" illegal immigrants by providing them with access to city services like public education to "make their lives reasonable." Giuliani did say that "a tremendous amount of money should be put into the physical security" needed to stop the flow of illegal immigrants coming across the border, but his overall position on immigration is essentially indistinguishable from McCain's."
That's bad enough. But, as Michelle Malkin has revealed, under Giuliani, New York was an illegal alien sanctuary and "America's Mayor" actually sued the federal government in an effort to keep New York City employees from having to cooperate with the INS:
"When Congress enacted immigration reform laws that forbade local governments from barring employees from cooperating with the INS, Mayor Rudy Giuliani filed suit against the feds in 1997. He was rebuffed by two lower courts, which ruled that the sanctuary order amounted to special treatment for illegal aliens and were nothing more than an unlawful effort to flaunt federal enforcement efforts against illegal aliens. In January 2000, the Supreme Court rejected his appeal, but Giuliani vowed to ignore the law."
