Two senior Iraqi generals are being questioned in last week's attack in Karbala, in which 5 U.S. soldiers were killed, the Pentagon told FOX News.
Because of the sophistication of the attack where militants poses as U.S. soldiers attacked a meeting of U.S. and Iraqi soldiers Iran was suspected of being involved, Pentagon officials said.
The assault was conducted by nine to 12 militants posing as an American security team. They traveled in black GMC Suburban vehicles the type used by U.S. government convoys had American weapons, wore new U.S. military combat fatigues and spoke English.
The raid, as explained by Iraqi and American officials, began after nightfall at about 6 p.m. on Jan. 20, while American military officers were meeting with their Iraqi counterparts on the main floor of the Provisional Joint Coordination Center (PJCC) in Karbala.
The Pentagon said the investigation into the attack is ongoing and several Iraqis have been detained for questioning.
Because high-level generals were possibly involved, the Pentagon said, it raises questions about the loyalty and trustworthiness of Iraqi military officers at the highest levels.

They still got that noose they used on Saddam?
Baathist generals don't cooperate with pro-Iranian death squads to kill American soldiers. The attack in Karbala was a focused Shia militia attack and an inside job.
And that proper Koran handling procedures are in place...
I see years and years of IEDs and terror among the Iraqis.
Maliki needs to imitate Saddam's ability to terrorize the citizens into being peaceful.
"Ramsey's en-route."
Heh. He's 0-3 over there.
GMAC SmartLease with a very low APR and minimal down-payment?
"And how exactly did they get the GMC Suburbans?"
Craig's List
I'm still wondering about that stolen license plate on one of the SUVs, stolen in the Green Zone from a Shiite Iraqi member of parliament in the Dawa Party. If the Green Zone is so heavily fortified and secure, it seems that to steal a license plate AND those SUVs from there would be extremely difficult without inside help.
That makes the most sense.
The Shia want us out of their so they can begin their Final elimination of the Sunni.
The Sunni, especially former Bathists, at this point, know what's coming and want us to stay for their own protection.
Further substantiation of your theory, jmc1969.

Well if the Iranians have funded both the Shia and Sunni militants, then why would it be so difficult for them to aid former Saddam generals?
And why have you concluded it was an inside job by a Shia militia?
