this could end up very much like the threats the Terry Schaivo crowd made against Charlie Crist. In the end Christ dispatched Tom Gallegher easily and won by 5% over the DEM in a DEM year with a loser at the head of the GOP ticket for Senate.
Ive noticed that the religious right can be more emotional than logical and calculating....if they try and take him out and he wins, kiss the religious conservatives good bye forever....the religious right will be in the odd position of supporting Hillary for President

LOL! You are right. After the last few days, some of us may suffer strokes, heart attacks, heartburn, insomnia and general discomfort.
Fine. But since the vast majority of Republicans nationwide are NOT one of those, you never get nominated by the national party to run for President.
By then the only candidate left standing will be the Town Manager of Drycrust Montana!

Some of these "groups" take themselves way too seriously. Lets hear what Rudy has to say in the primaries on these issues.
Regardless the number one issue is national security. Rudy, McCain, Newt and the others will defend you. Osama or Hillary will not.
How about we drop the categories and just nominate a candidate who supports the party platform?
What many of you mistake for "emotional" is actually moral and religious convictions and principles.
Whatever it was, Dole lost.
Would you rather have Rudy or Hillary? Because with the war on, we either run a moderate or lose the White House.
And why should I pay any more attention to the Family Research Council than you all pay to the fact that Pat Robertson thinks Rudy would make a good president?

I agree. National security has to come before any social issues, or there will be no country left in which to dicker over the social issues.
Sometimes the best is the enemy of the good.
Would they have "taken out" Ronald Reagan because he was divorced, or because he had an earlier record as a labor union guy, or because he once supported abortion?
It remains to be seen what Rudy will do about these issues, but closing your eyes and declaring that you refuse to even look at someone is politically stupid.
If they take that attitude, they will predicatably end up supporting some unknown candidate who will never get more than 3% of the vote. It's far too early to write Rudy off.
McCain, yes. McCain has a proven record of treachery and insane behavior. Pataki, yes. Pataki has a record of actually working for abortion, which Rudy, despite his earlier statements, does not. And just consider their records in office. Pataki betrayed all his campaign promises and left the state in a mess. Rudy kept his promises, and left the city far better than he found it.
Life and family are bottom line issues for me, but it's far too early to write Giuliani off on these issues. Let's see how it develops first. I would support Duncan Hunter if he manages to make himself known and goes head to head with Rudy, but let's see if he can do it, eh?
