Seems to me they should lighten up.
Face it, in a free society if someone wants to place a bomb, they're going to place a bomb.
Sure it's a stupid stunt, but that's what it was meant to be.
I disagree. Throw the book at them. This was beyond stupid and goes into criminal.
Kids call in bomb threats at schools and disrupt classes, They are held criminally responsible. Whats good for kids is good for adults who should know better.
Muslims outraged
I'd bet $10 it was Shake ,, Fry wouldn't have done it... Meatwad probably helped..
Check out This Gallery of pictures to get an idea of the mess it caused.
If somebody wants to plant a bomb, they're gonna plant a bomb. And if we catch them, we're going to throw the book at them. If somebody plants a fake bomb, if we catch them, we're going to throw the book at them. If somebody plants 38 fake bombs, we're going to throw the book at them over and over again.
Works for me.
Bingo.
The fact that they were up for 2-3 weeks in several other cities, with no official overreaction, says a lot. What it says, does not reflect well upon Boston's crack police and overall "homeland security".
And now, they're all full of indignation and bluster, threatening prosecution, as a smokescreen for their own poor reaction.
Yeah... when MacDonalds gives you your HappyMeal with polonium-210 in it... you should laugh it off.
It was beyond stupid. . .it appears dangerously lame attempt at a 'reality cartoon'. (This kind of mentality fits in well with the those of like-mind who thought the 'water-drinking' contest a great 'radio' PR stunt/event.
We all survive the costs of general stupidity; but absolute stupidity is can be life-threatening; according to the 'post-mortems'. . .There should be a price for 'Darwin Award' thinking and I hope those responsible; are made to pay it.
What you said....
Bostonians get excited a little too easily. Funny thing is it was probably a suburban commuter who noticed the 1st one, and older cops and older media then responded in a cascade effect. Meanwhile, any college kid would have known it was a marketing stunt.
His only issue is how much it cost not how much his police overreacting cost the citizens caught up in this gaff.
To do this kind of placement of devices the way it was, an individual had to know or should have that it was going to create the kind of panic it did, Coakley said last night during a press conference.
I thought I heard there were 9 other cities involved in this promotion. Havent heard from them, looks like Boston is the only city to overreact, and now they are embarassed and mad darn it!
Fact is most of what others do is incomprehensible but violates some law.
Chicago police have been picking up these things for a couple of days. Somehow there was no hysteria or panics. Boston needs to grow a pair. It may be too "smart" for its own good.
