It was bad enough when cartoons caused rioting in Muslim countries. As a native Bostonian, I am embarrassed at the level of hysteria caused by cartoons in my home city.
In an effort to promote a late night Cartoon Network show called Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Turner Broadcasting hired some guerilla marketers to attach magnetic boxes with the lighted image of one of the characters on several locations around the city of Boston.
Now I dont know much about making terror bombs, but city officials were notified and later considered the boxes dangerous. Have any of us ever heard of a bomb with the lighted image of a mooninite on it? Was there any reason that cable news stations spent the whole afternoon on a non-story?
Is Boston that stupid?

LOL Hey I can relate to that.
Earlier in the week I was talking to a crew that was going around cutting tree limbs out from around the powerlines. One of them told me that they had had several people pull guns on them or threaten them when they pulled up in front of their property.
I told him that about 70% of the people in this town were on drugs, 20% were just crazy and the other 5% were in need of watching.
With having the likes of the infamous K's (Kerry & Kennedy) and that black hole called the Big Dig that's falling apart whiles its being built and keeps on sucking money from the American Taxpayers, Mass is really in a state (of stupor).
The Boston voter base consists of:
Government-addicted welfare bums, mentally unstable leftover commie professors, Satanists, women with in-your-face tattoos, fourth-generation drunks, the "FDR is God" elderly, power-crazed media has-beens, paint-flinging animal rights losers, abortion enthusiasts (Catholics of course), retards still driving around with Al Gore bumper stickers, retro-hippie wannabees, gold-chained union thugs, sicko pornographers, the Jimmy Carter fan club (all three members), intellectuals who decided to act as their own lawyer in the divorce proceedings and lost everything, aging KGB agents now living in this country, Muslim jihadists who slipped in through Montreal, alien abductees (not to be confused with illegal aliens), and dead and buried voters from Joe Kennedy's era - - these make up the Boston voting elite. Oh, yeah, dont forget the 10,000 graduates of Harvard Law School, the scariest group of all.
As a Marxachusetts resident, I can echo your sentiments and say, "Wonderfully well said!" You have a gift for the use of the language and have characterized the situation to a tee.
Of course there are great conservatives living in Boston, and you are probably one of them. But I have always been curious, maybe you can explain to me and others - -how the cradle of liberty was turned into a haven for socialists?
Sounds a lot like MexiFornia too!!
See, the point is that the marketing ploy wasn't INTENDED to create a terrorist scare hoax - you've read too many of the early stories and not enough of the later ones.
How it is being treated and what [dis-, or regular] information goes about it, are two different things.
That's a great homepage. I really enjoyed the Reagan essay.
Boston voters I have to agree.
Boston people are just like the WTC people. They didn't need this Shiite today. Nobody anywhere needs this to happen in post 9/11 U.S.A.
I hope these people go to prison for life. That is downgraded from hanging, which was my position earlier. Sadly, I am mellowing with age...
Yup! This gives the terrorists a complete "get" placing bombs in the guise of popular cartoon characters. Similar to the Flying Imans event but different since the Imans were purposely creating an issue whereas the Cartoon Network surely knew that the reaction could be as such and after tons of apologies the free ink for their product will have justified the hassle.
Da bomb is in da can o boston baked beans.
I think the cartoon will be da bomb!
The city officials will be da dud.
"Wasn't intended"???

Is Boston that stupid?
YES!!
Oh, I'd be more afraid of a cigarette machine than a plush bunny. Cigarettes kill. Especially in the movies.
Boston wears the dunce cap tonight.
Sorry, don't mean to parse your true words, but when Coulter rants on Romney as elected as 'red' in a 'blue' area and the leader of the republican party for POTUS, is quite frankly, terrifying.
But at least Mexifornia has year-round sunshine.... I could use a dose of that right now, let me tell you (sighing).
Terrifying, heh. There's a lot of that going around.
Well if my aunt was male, she'd be my uncle. So what? Like its been posted before, the boxes have been up for 2 (TWO) weeks and now the LEO's go nuts.
New Orleans is probably worst than Detroit, but it would be close.
