So how far back does the Free Republic archive articles and how can I go back and find some of the first threads that started the whole thing off ?
It struck me I've hung out for a while and it was well established when I joined.
Be fun to see what we were focused on day one. For me anyway.

Jet, I was here years before the 1997 SW update. There were only 3000 members then.

Give me five, bro! There's not many of us flame combat vets left that were here before 1997. Those big flame wars lasted for days. Those were good ones. I believe I got here in '95. When did you get here?
Five back at you! I got here in March 1997 - found one of Rodger Schultz's many Whitewater posts.
When I read this, I had to see if I posted it. This is exactly how I found FR. I lurked till about 2000 and then I logged in.

From my recollection, Jim started posting on a Prodigy bulletin board sometime after Clinton got elected. He was not happy with the Clintonista's and what they were doing to our country. Eventually, he was booted off Prodigy for his postings and started his own BB and called it FreeRepubic, sometime in 1997. A lot of the early posters were from that original Prodigy BB.
This is a brief summary of my recollection.
