The bell has just rung on the 2008 presidential sweepstakes and already more entries have crowded into the gates than the American grandstand can count, much less account for. That's all to the good, as the only winners over the past two decades have been named either Bush or Clinton. Still, since nothing less than the fate of the nation seems to be at stake, it is imperative that all candidates be measured...

Deeply frustrated by nine seasons of blockading by Clinton lawyers and Democratic congressmen, Mr. Barrett issued a statement saying, "An accurate title for the report would be, 'What We Were Prevented from Investigating.' " What, indeed. In an online column written before he signed on as President Bush's press secretary, Tony Snow reported that by all accounts the redacted pages contained enough damning evidence to sink Mrs. Clinton's presidential ship.

I can personally vouch for the Clinton-IRS strategy. In 2002, after I had learned of Mr. Clinton's intrusion into the case I had reported to the IRS, I informed Mrs. Clinton of the facts I'd uncovered. Soon enough the IRS came calling with unwarranted tax demands and threats of criminal investigation. I replied accusing the IRS of conspiring with the Clintons and the media conglomerate to perpetrate "institutionalized terrorism." The agency, finally grasping the irony that it was seeking to punish its own whistleblower, quickly backed off.

Now that the senator from New York has announced "I'm in to win," voters should demand that their representatives release the mystery pages so that they may examine Mrs. Clinton red in tooth. Otherwise, Americans run the risk of going to the polls in 2008 seeking the rebirth of a nation only to discover that they have merely traded the devil for a witch.

Tony had Sen. Grassley, IIRC, on his radio show, and Sen. Grassley sounded like he was GOING to get the redacted pages...and then, shortly after that, Tony got the new job.
I may be wrong, onyx, but I remember listening to Tony that day...and I am pretty sure it was Grassley..but I have pinged some people that may have also heard that show.
Grassley --- well what happened? Grassley.....
Yes, it was Grassley.
Thanks, SQ...
onyx, what has happened to ALL of our GOPers?
Who do you mean?
That would have been Mike Pence. He said he would work to get it released but he left himself lots of wiggle room. He was pretty weak on it.
Grassley may also have said it but none really meant that they WOULD have it released.
Im sorry..that question was really worded oddly.
I meant where has the courage and integrity gone in the GOP?
Oh...yes, I forgot about Mike Pence.
Hmmmmmm..do I think any of them really care what "we the people" want? NO.
One didn't win reelection --- Rick Santorum.
I don't remember if it was Grassley, tx. Towards the end of Tony's show run I was working and didn't get to listen as much as I did the previous summer.
Exactly right.
The powerful protect each other.
EXACTLY....they are gone.
Right. Sad but true.
Yes...I was very sorry to read that the author is such a lib...because he actually made some good "guesses" as to why the report stays buried....and none of them make me feel very thrilled with our Congress, or anyone "connected" in Washington.
Of course the MSM will never tell anyone about it.
So let me get this straight .. the liberals are demanding this report to be released??
