My Grandmother, Mother and Mother in Law taught me the same.

So I was respectful of her.

Whatever people may wish on her, there was probably no worse pain conceivable than having to die while George W. Bush is still President. RIP Ms Ivins.

Didn't the Nixon daughters also attend Smith?

Not sure. I dated a girl from Smith in 1988. That place was an experience. Leftist-lesbian recruiting central.

I checked, Julie did, but Tricia went to Finch College in NYC.

Julie attended Smith College after her graduation from high school and received a master's from the Catholic University of America in 1972.

May God comfort her family.

John 14:6 - Jesus said, "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father, but by me."

RIP, Molly. But good riddance to your columns.

...That goes double for me.

There is an old saying that says "Speak well of the dead, or say nothing at all." I have no comment on her death.

I don't want to use this as a forum to bash Molly, but people don't realize how far left she actually was. She wasn't just some typical lib, she was way way out on the fringe. In short she was a Marxist. She was a regular columnist for Mother Jones. And she had some sort of vendetta against the Bush clan. Probably because Dubya defeated her good buddy Ann Richards. My particular gripe is with Big Media again for trying to portray Ivins and others like her as just sharp-tongued critics of the admin.

The fact is Big Media never tells readers how far-left some of their darlings are. I. F. Stone was another. The guy was presented as some sort of lone wolf critic of whoever was in the White House. The real fact is that he was a commie who defended Stalin. Ivins was not much different. Nevertheless I hope she finds the peace in death that she couldn't find in life.

"speak well of the dead"

Hitler and Stalin are both dead. Am I allowed to speak ill of them?

"after ..Soros"

Exactly. I'd like to dig through Molly's columns and find the anti-Castro ones. I'd bet I'd be looking for a long time...in vain. I find it interesting that all the lib scribblers who find Dubya next of kin to Satan never find time to condemn the real evil dictators and mass murderers extant. It's alway someone like Dubya who'd probably go out of his way to keep someone like Ivins out of prison for speaking her mind.

The woman was on the "other side" of virtually every issue that makes America great.

That made her rather like Walter Lippman ~ we all rememeber him, right?

Ol' Walter was ALWAYS WRONG on every issue. If you wanted to know which way public policy should be tilted, you'd see what Walt had to say and go the other way.

In Molly's case, it wasn't just a matter of helping us pick out a better policy ~ it was more like a question of finding the route to biological survival ~ and that was ALWAYS in any other direction.

As irksome as the one-man or one-woman focus group might be, I suppose we have to put up with them from time to time. There was a large gap between Walter's end and Molly's notoriety so it could be a while before she's (or he's) replaced eh?!

I don't mind the divergence of opinion. You are right, it is what makes America great. What irks me is the failure of Big Media to accurately and truthfully reveal the political biases of these people. Lippman was a real lib, but Ivins was further left than he was. He wanted to liberalize the system but not junk it, she wanted to junk it and replace it with Marxism.

This was mis-captioned. Should be corrected as follows:

There. That makes more sense.
