Jan 31, 2007 — About 98 percent of Harley's nearly 2,800 unionized workers have voted to strike. The contract expires at 12:01 a.m. Friday, and picketing will begin at that time, union representatives said.

Discussions on the proposed labor contract began at 9 a.m. today in the Toyota Arena at the York Expo Center, where the members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 175 met.

We used to say that if your company has a union, you probably deserve one. You've probably treated your employees so badly, and jerked them around so much that they resorted to a union. If employees are treated well and paid what their work is worth they won't resort to a union.

It's a simple lesson many businesses fail to learn.

So you're back to your original mindless "quit yer bitchin."

Can't figure out which has less content. That post, or the baking diatribe.

Did you get your Socialist Security check this month? I sent it to you last week. And the week before. Enjoy it. Don't spend it all in one place.

I think that my 20 year old Kawasaki ZL 1000 Eliminator will give almost any VRodder a run for their money.

110 hp, 11.2 sec quarter mile. 0-60 < 3 seconds.

I cant believe you compared a Honda Rebel with a sportster. Its a 250 CC girls toy.

Awww.. c'mon now.. you shouldn't be so hard on a sportster.. I think they're at least 800cc.. LOL

It is later than I wanted to post this. Thursday night I rcvd word that my dad (age-84) had a series of strokes and was in bad shape. I had to drive to Milw and spend time w/ him. I did not have access to a computer. You might say I have had an Epiphany of sorts on this particular issue. Here are three reasons in no particular order.
** Driving out of town past the HD dealer I noticed this on their sign for the first time ever: 0 down, 0%, 0 payments for 6 months.
** My brother turned me on to an article that stated that HD is trying hard to increase exports to make up for lower than expected domestic sales.
** I got to read some of the contract offer HD made to the union. All in all,it did not seem like a terrible offer.

Perhaps company forecasters understand something someone in my position does not. The future for HD might not be as bright as previously forecasted. A reasonable person (I would like to think I am a reasonable person)could conclude from the above that those guys going on strike now might be killing the golden goose. That goes against principles I have mentioned earlier.

My conclusion: They are nuts for going on strike now. Period!!
