I don't think there are billboards AND LED signs. All the Flikr and Youtube stuff refers to the light-up signs.

Okay, I was wondering because I've also posted a couple of times on another thread here where Turner Broadcasting used the words billboard which doesn't exactly describe the LED signs.

Hoax Devices Part Of Cartoon Ad Campaign
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1776983/posts

Look at interferenceinc's website, they do alternative advertising like the LED signs, plus what they call Lightsniping, projecting ads in odd places at odd times.

Sort of like viral ads on the web, they try to generate a secondary buzz based on surprise and coolness.

Yeah, I understand the viral ads as I've used them successfully in the past and I can easily translate that over to an IRL secondary buzz or real life viral ad.

I'd like to hear the audio for the calls about the suspicious devices. Personally I would not find a glowy sign to be too suspect, unless it was massive or had a countdown timer.

I wonder though, did the glowy signs glowy in the daytime. Hopefully by the time this all gets investigated we might find out who did the call-in about the "suspicious" devices. Hope it wasn't done by anyone affiliated with the ad campaign and was done by an olderly person like me.

If you walked into a theater and said "I am FIREd up to see this movie"! and someone got scared and called the police, should you go to jail? Should the caller?

How does that look with the emphasis?

Anyway, this is NOT a good time to play games with threats.

How would the average citizen feel if I put a laser dot on his/her heart?

It's just a 1$ toy, you can get them anywhere.

"Anyway, this is NOT a good time to play games with threats."

But what was the threat?

Dry undies here, too, but the responders had to react as if a threat did exist. Disruption of citizens' patterns and schedules resulted.

Wonder what the economic impact was? What was the effect on children and old people who might have been separated from their caretakers? How much worry and distraction occurred across the country by those having loved ones in Boston? The byproducts of this act were as surely terrorism as if they had attached explosive devices to the structures.

I agree . . . OBL is laughing, but not because Americans are pansies, it's because Turner Broadcasting did his work for him today. (IF OBL is still breathing)

So, terrorist make bombs to look like bombs?

And I guess we can say of all those people who were killed by terrorist bomb in dolls, donkeys etc., at least they weren't "idiots".

But what was the threat?

Are you stoned?

What would you do if there was an unknown package in your car?

Sheesh! If the children want to play, let them go back to the "panty raids" of the 1950's.

We live in very dangerous times. If I saw someone planting a "package" where I live I would kill them and worry about the consequences afterwards.

I agree completely, but who was doing that here? There is simply NO WAY a reasonable person could mistake these for a bomb. This was a blatant case of media and government hyper overreaction.

If anyone involved in the add campaign made the calls to authorities, they should go away for a long time. But we simply don't know that yet.

It'll be hard to prove in a court that the makers intended them to look like bombs.

The photobucket picture is a clearer picture than on post 387 since it shows what it looks like in daylight and when not lit. I don't know whether it was lit all the time or whether it was unlit during daylight. I could see where someone who wasn't in any way familiar with pokemon (at least I think it's similar to pokemon???) figures could look at the unlit thingie and be nervous. The unlit one has the battery with wire at the bottom right side and what looks like a circuit board on the bottom left side.

So if I saw the unlit one, I might think someone was using a pokemon figure to give us the bird before the thing blew up. Then again, because it reminds me of what I think I remember pokemon looking like, I might just ignore it completely.

Personally, I think that not over-reacting is one of the few things Americans at home can do to get back at OBL and his cronies.

We should be fighting the war on Islamism by killing the bad guys where they live and then getting back to the openness that has always characterized American life.

What we are ACTUALLY doing is wrong on both counts. We're letting Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia get away with murder while encouraging suspicion and paranoia on the home front.

So nobody knows what the other hand is doing? ( Re : Turner Broadcasting) Isn't that a bit like the asylum calling the Moonbat?

Relax everyone, it was just a liberal main stream media stunt which makes it alright.

Rest assured, you are all safe now that the liberal media's choices to run the government are in office.

You would kill someone putting up a light up cartoon character somewhere?

Wow. Now, if this was going on in your home, I would say "ok" some nutjob was in the guys house and he shot them.

Out on the street..ahhhh no.

Its a simple matter of mass. These did not have enough mass to be more than a firecracker IF they were explosive devices.

So explain to me why we aren't having panic attacks over everything else left unattended in a public place that doesn't look like a bomb? Boxes, bags, cars...?

We have a basic disagreement.

You think that these shenanigans are just high-spirited hijinks.

I say this is not funny, not one little bit.

Call Homeland Security right away if you see one of these on your street.

It could be a set of Al Qaeda targeting vectors!!

I have to wonder what some of you folks that are making excuses for these 'ads' would think if they had been planted at the Super Bowl and disrputed the games this Sunday.

Now,,THAT WOULD NOT BE FUNNY....LOL. I know my hubby would be ready to string the guys up on the goal posts!!
