Bad phrasing on my part.....planting fake bombs is now something to use as an advertising tool and make people giggle?

Better?

Well, it's official: There were part of an advertising campaign for Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Now I don't have to feel guilty about laughing.

I'm sure all those commuters inconvenienced by this absolute bullsh*t marketing idea aren't laughing . . .

Is Mumbles the Boston Mayor

Yes, Mumbles is our "Hire the Handicapped" idiot Mayor.

Go here for lots of audio clips of him trying to speak English.

It's a website maintained by our local drive time talk radio guy, Howie Carr.

Suspicious package means possibility of a bomb to me. I guess I need to be re-educated. I'm into that silly post 9-11 mindset.

I'm trying to see the humor of this situation. Maybe, I'm just too old and jaded to see this as nothing more than a clever advertising tool for a cartoon!

I am with you J!!

I don't care how "clever" these people think they were being...no one should be allowed to do something like this.

I have a great sense of humor...but this is NOT funny...IMHO

The way that this has been handled by the media and authorities I can understand your response, but think of it this way, if you saw a light up Bart Simpson on a wall, would you freak out?

I'm sure they aren't laughing, and I conceded in my first post in this thread that I probably wouldn't be either if I were in their shoes. That said, the whole thing strikes me as very funny—both as an ATHF fan, and the simple fact that an advertising campaign for a cartoon caused such a huge uproar. Quite a sign of the times we're living in.

The "Dry Run" claims largely seem to come out when people get frustrated and disappointed when something they hoped was a possible terrorist attack turns out not to be.

Hmmm... Please clarify this. Do you believe that people on this forum are "hoping" for a terrorist attack?

In the overwhelming majority of cases, examining the facts of the situation, it ends up having made no logical sense whatsoever for said incident to be a dry run and no conceivable benefit to any sort of terrorists.

This may be true, however you have not left out the possibility that this may have been in preparation for a terrorist attack. While, of course, I have no inside knowledge whether or not this was indeed a dry run, the facts as dictated indicate it is, at the least, a possibility.
