Political analyst and former Democrat insider Keith Thompson says even though Duncan Hunter is considered a long-shot for the White House, the California congressman could move into the top tier of GOP hopefuls as the 2008 presidential campaign progresses.
Hunter officially entered the 2008 presidential "sweepstakes" last week, Thompson notes. He says the candidate, as the former chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, has a strong conservative voting record working in his favor; and he is particularly known for his support of the military and his opposition to illegal immigration.
For these reasons, Thompson feels the California representative is at the top of the second tier of Republican hopefuls right now and is capable of moving up. Hunter has "a fairly decent financial base right now [and] some key supporters who are helping him get his campaign to the next level," the political analyst points out; "so I think he could come right into that first tier very quickly and be a significant candidate for the nomination."
Hunter's biggest problem is name recognition, Thompson acknowledges. He says that is one advantage early GOP favorites John McCain and Rudy Giuliani have over the California lawmaker.
But even though Hunter does not come in with the years of exposure that those virtually "mythological figures" have, Thompson observes, he says "the name recognition factor could change," and Hunter could become a force to be reckoned with in the coming 2008 presidential campaign.

I think that's the ultimate "have you stopped beating your wife" claim that I've ever seen.
I doubt we'll get a link, either. I did a google search and found nothing at all with different combinations.

Does this mean that I did wrong by voting for not supporting Kerry in 2004. After all, Kerry was a combat veteran
C'mon Dave, surely you're not that stupid?
John F'in Kerry is a traitor. ANY good he might have done while wearing the uniform of the United States Navy was UNdone when he came back to the States, started lying about imaginary war crimes and atrocities before the U.S. Senate, accusations that were never proven, he joined subversive groups seeking not only to give aid and comfort to the Communists, but to actually assassinate elected U.S. officials who were FOR the war effort.
Kerry continued his treason by violating the Logan Act by traveling to Paris and engaging in private negotiations with the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong.
And just this past weekend, Kerry is staying true to form by trash-talking America on foreign soil and giving aid and comfort to Iran, another one of America's enemies he can't cozy up to enough.
Dave, you need to wise up here.
Heck, McCain is a vet and you said you wouldnt support him. Arent you being a hypocrite?
No Dave, I'm not because John McCain is damn near every bit the traitor that John F'in Kerry is, (who McCain calls his 'good friend'), because McCain collaborated with the Commies in Vietnam, he agreed to trade military information for medical treatment, he has continued to carry water for the Communist dictatorship in Vietnam, he has stabbed our Constitution in the back with his McCain-Feingold choke hold on the 1st Amendment (you got any questions about that and McCain? You need go no further than our founder Jim Robinson, who will be happy to give you an earful about that scumbag John McCain.)
Like Kerry, any good McCain did while wearing the uniform has been UNdone by his actions while a POW, his actions as a United States Senator, and his going out of his way to aid and assist the Communists in Vietnam, and in fact did everything possible to make it MORE difficult for families of POWs and MIAs to find out what happened to their loved ones lost in Vietnam.
Now Dave, I'd like to think you're smart enough to be able to tell the difference between a combat veteran who has remained loyal to America, did NOT sell out, and can be trusted to uphold the Constitution of the United States, and one (or two) who did not.
Your absurd invoking of the names Kerry and McCain prove otherwise.
Back to you Sparky.

Thanks for the contribution and compliment.
You don't have to thank me for contributing to FR, unless you're secretly assigned to the fund raising department, it's got nothing to do with you, and I might add, asking another poster whether or not they contribute to FR is really none of your damn business.
And re-read the post in question, that was no compliment.

I earlier called for proof on a scurrilous claim about Duncan Hunter earlier and none was forthcoming.
I would ask for same here about McCain or have the post retracted. I have no love for Captain McQueeg. I also have no problem with a slug-a-thon over what the facts mean about the various candidates.
But I have no desire to have FR used as a means to spread clear and slanderous falsehoods.

Sorry, I want more than a cite from a movie website. A claim such as that needs two-point confirmable verification - and not with one point referencing the other as a source.
And I am no way, no how a McCain supporter. Just ask onyx.

McCain was put into a cell with Air Force majors, George Bud Day, and Norris Overly who both saved his life.
No amount of posted internet lies will change the truth.

While I find the material that I've cited to be sufficient for me, I've asked that my posts 470 and 474 be deleted by the mods, while I think there are substantial questions regarding the conduct of John McCain, this is not the forum for it. This is supposed to be a pro-Duncan Hunter thread, and unfortunately it is too easily diverted into other topics thanks to anti-Hunter trolls (and they know who they are, I'm not talking about you two fine Freepers, dirtboy and onyx ;).
In any event, I'm calling it a night, got an early morning ahead of me, so see you all back here tomorrow, same time, same channel.
G'nite!
