"Some experts blast latest climate report"

WASHINGTON - "Later this week in Paris, climate scientists will issue a dire forecast for the planet that warns of slowly rising sea levels and higher temperatures. But that may be the sugarcoated version."

"Early and changeable drafts of their upcoming authoritative report on climate change foresee smaller sea level rises than were projected in 2001 in the last report. Many top U.S. scientists reject these rosier numbers."

Good grief. Scientists (and the media) are all but claiming life on earth will be extinct in 100 years because of global warming. And these guys think there isn`t enough fear factor?

The atmosphere will swell and envelope the asteroid belt bringing down a rain of fiery death from the heavens.

Better?

Yes, we'll all be dead - unless of course we start carbon counting, and giving ours away; then we can save the planet.

The warmth from our overheating globe will be detectable across the vast distance of the galaxy, thus attracting unwanted attention from the Borg.

climate scientists will issue a dire forecast for the planet

forecast
a prediction, esp. as to the weather.
a conjecture as to something in the future.

Are these the same scientist that predicted a more server hurricane season this last year with more and bigger hurricanes to hit the coast lines?....Doesn't the water displacement thing ensure that the melting floating icebergs will not flood the world. Wouldn't it be like ice melting in a glass of ice tea flooding over the glass rim?

Ok..let us assume they are correct...what do they expect to do with the situation....exterminate 70% of the earth's population....the remaining folks resort to living in mud huts with whale oil lamps...eating raw fish....become wandering nomads, living in the northern areas in the summer, southern areas in the winter....it is beyond, understanding, this continued mindless, hysteria...continued hammering away with this topic, will result in the destruction of our society...

Of course!

But the problem is not sea ice, the problem is glaciers and other ice above sea level.

Funny thing: that ice has been melting since the end of the last ice age, with seas rising some 400 feet in the last ca. 15,000 years. (End of the ice age, ice melts. Hmmmmm! What a coincidence!)

Now, what caused that to happen? Campfires? Mastodon flatulence?

I heard an interesting interview of Dr. Robinson and Senator Imhoff on Hanity today. Here are some statistics that were shared:

17,500 scientists dispute Al Gore's theory that global warming is caused by green house gasses.

If we buy into the Kyoto treaty, it will cost each family in the U.S. $2,000.

A former originator of the Kyoto committee said that "this is not about global warming, but leveling the playing field and destroying big business (America)".

A result of the Kyoto treaty would be the stoppage of construction; elimination of cars; limits on heating and cooling (max on heat: 65 degrees max on cooling: 84 degrees); limitation on individual travel.

Currently China is opening 1 coal burning plant every 3 days while the US hasn't opened one for decades.

In my opinion, this is a political propoganda display geared to bring Gore (the father of the internet) to the Presidency and to wipe out all the freedoms of the citizens of the U.S. and Europe.

You know... there's an argument to be made that a little sea level rise in exchange for more northern temperate zones is a pretty good trade.

Think of all the newly habitable and arable farmland in Canada, Russia... land to support the worlds population more sustainably than ever. For a trade of only a couple of feet of shoreline?

Might not be all bad. :-)

And if this warning does not panic everyone, then they will revise the predictions to paint an even worse senario next month.

If the stories are to be believed, GW has gotten worse every week for the last ten years. The less we respond, the worse the "predictions" become.

More proof to me that global warming is not about predictive hypotheses, is not about facts, is not about fair evaluation of predicted results, is not about science at all. It's all about emotion.

But, but, but a simple glance at the carbon dioxide, world average temperature graph would demonstrate that CO2 is an effect of warming, not a cause!

Here's a quote from the a$$hole Stephen Schneider:

"To capture the public imagination,we have to offer up some scary scenarios, make simplified dramatic statements and little mention of any doubts one might have. Each of us has to decide the right balance between being effective, and being honest."

- Dr Stephen Schneider ( in interview for "Discover" magagzine, Oct 1989) That sums these people up well.
