SAN DIEGO — While key entrance and exit points have been plugged in some of the biggest tunnels used to ferry people and drugs across the U.S.-Mexico border, the passageways remain largely intact raising concerns smugglers reuse them, according to a published report.

Simple solution, put motion sensors in the tunnel and when they trigger, fill the tunnels with water. Problem solved.

Get real! A wall/fence will still do a heck of a job. We have radar than can detect tunnels, we should have US military on the border deploying it

They can't tunnel everywhere, and use of technology to detect tunneling AND a physical barrier would be effective.

Plus, an actual wall (if built) could extend a ways below ground, too.

I agree whole-heartedly. I don't understand why my plan to bomb the carpet-bomb the ever-living crap out of Mexico, and then annex whatever is left, keeps being ignored. We could have New Arizona, New Nevada, New Texas, Really New Mexico, and Really Southern California as 5 new U.S. states.

It would boost our domestic oil supply, give us a whole lot of wide open places to build evil nuclear power plants, and just think of all the American companies that have already relocated down there. Plus, we rename "Cancun" as "Margaritaville" and build an All-American amusement park there. I think they got surfing, too!

We have plenty of politicians who are experienced in dealing with the exact kind of ineptitude and corruption that dominates the government of Mexico -- Kathleen Blanco would make a great governor of New Arizona. Ann Richards for New Texas. We could dust off Jerry Brown for Really Southern California.
