You can learn alot about a particular society by the way they treat their animals.

Seems to me they let that horse suffer for a long time, before finally putting it out of it's misery. Not sure if that was compassionate and I'll bet $$ was some part of that decision to put it off.

Very busy. I had to go into to work today to take a break from the weekend. LOL!

The vets and caretakers of this horse put extraordinary effort into trying to save his life.

Yes, hundreds of us here on FR have been following the ups and downs of Barbaro and his medical helpers nearly daily on dozens of thread over the many months since the horrible injury.

The amount of medical information, the things I learned about horses here could fill a thick book. It has been gut-wrenching for all of us to watch all of this happen.

I know that I am overly sensitive toward the wellbeing of animals..... God, what I could tell you.

But anyhow, thanks for your reasoned and kind posts.

Now, THAT's a reasonable point to debate. Like I said in a previous post, I probably would have had the animal euthanized right after the incident rather than subjecting it to repeated surgeries etc. However, on the other hand, I can appreciate that they did everything they could to give the animal a chance at a full life as well.

However, Savage's insinuation that the caretakers/owners of his horse are going to MAKE MONEY off an insurance settlement is ludicrous. They might break even after all the vet bills are paid but they aren't going to make a dime from the insurance company.

I also don't give a flying fig if some people are incapable of understanding that having the capacity to feel compassion for animals can coexist in one human heart with the capacity to feel compassion for human beings.

Yes ............ thank you for that.

Please be well.............. it's been a long number of months with Barbaro for all of us who care. And this is a very sad day.

Without getting into the nuances of this horse and its history, I'm only saying that #105 was just a bit much considering it was just a HORSE we're talking about considering all the other issues that's going on in our country today that we can get outraged about, irregardless if Savage's comments about the horse's caretakers were right or wrong.

Then in addition to the post I notice BTS pings others so they can also come on this thread and bash Savage over a HORSE, A HORSE? Priorities people!!!

Yes......... I heard some of it......... but fill me in if you would.

From what I heard, he was ignorant of the facts as usual. Sometimes I almost disdain that slob.

Rush Limbaugh/Jeff Christie left Pittsburgh under a cloud .............. as we know. He's a hypocritical, self-indulgent, sanctimonious fraud. And it amazes me that a great number of FReepers trust in him. What complete fools. People are so easliy fooled

Priorities people!!!

Your soul is wanting.

And if you didn't know it, whatisthetruth, the truth is it is protocol (etiquette) here at FR to ping someone when you refer to them in a post.

Got it?

Duly noted, however figured you weren't too far off as it is, so didn't feel the need. As it is I was right in my assumption. As for my soul, aah, let's not go there.
