my gingrich/delay is just a pipe dream, or maybe a dream ticket....I was looking into supporting him, but did not know enough about him to make a commitment at this time...
You either didn't read my entire post or you didn't understand it. One of the reasons for doing a magazine exchange is because you don't know how many rounds are in the weapon. The idea is to keep the weapon topped off at all times so you don't run dry at the most critical moment. The 96F Brigadier slide doesn't always lock when all rounds are expended so it is difficult to know how many rounds you have. If you allow your weapon to run dry then you can't defend yourself while you reload.
Good for Hunter!

I forgot to metnion that the best time to do a mag exchange is during a momentary lull in fighting or behind cover.
Bottom line here, I think they screwed the pooch. This happened at 1:00 in the afternoon, not a dark alleyway at midnight. A total of 15 rounds were fired, 14 from Compean and 1 from Ramos. So if he was shooting a G22 with 15+1 he never even got to the end of his first clip, if he did exchange a clip he didn't fire any bullets from it. I think it's a moot point. I do find it interesting that one guy fires off 14 rounds and scores no hits, the other guy squeezes of one round, and gets one hit. Sounds to me like one of them was calm and collected and the other one was tweaking off of his rocker. I wonder if they did any drug tests afterwards or if because of the cover-up and not filing the reports if too much time had elapsed before an investigation started??????? Makes me wonder. Peeing in a cup has to be pretty standard after an officer involved shooting.
BTTT
Clips are used to put rounds in rifle magazines. Clips are not used with semi auto pistols.
If you are in a gun fight and you shoot all but two rounds and you duck behind cover, does it make more sense to continue the fight with nearly an empty magazine or is better to continue the fight with a full magazine? I would do a magazine exchange and continue the fight with a full magazine but that's just me. For some crazy reason I think it's stupid to go around a corner after a person shooting at me with a nearly empty mag instead of a full one.
When I run out am I gonna grab for a partially full clip that's now laying on the ground with dirt and debris all over it and slam that into my weapon??
You secure the partial mag on your person in a mag exchange.
The bottom line is nobody on FR knows what happened. You either believe USA Johnny Sutton's version of events or you don't.

You say potato......I love jargon purists. It's not a gun, it's a weapon......... blehhhh
You knew what I meant. Anyways yes I guess if you are covered by a tree, building, boulder, etc. yes that scenario makes sense. Now back to our real situation, broad daylight, middle of nowhere, typical SW topography and shrubbery, distance from target, I don't think it makes sense.
I don't have to believe Ramos/Compean's version or Sutton's version, just the evidence presented. 14 rounds and none of them find the mark, what do you make of that???? Piss-poor shot. Supposedly he was at relatively close range. That's never made sense to me.
..heard it with my own ears bump
