Islam could soon be the dominant force in a Europe which, in the name of political correctness, has abdicated the battle for cultural and religious control, Prof. Bernard Lewis, the world-renowned Middle Eastern and Islamic scholar, said on Sunday.
The Muslims "seem to be about to take over Europe," Lewis said at a special briefing with the editorial staff of The Jerusalem Post. Asked what this meant for the continent's Jews, he responded, "The outlook for the Jewish communities of Europe is dim." Soon, he warned, the only pertinent question regarding Europe's future would be, "Will it be an Islamized Europe or Europeanized Islam?" The growing sway of Islam in Europe was of particular concern given the rising support within the Islamic world for extremist and terrorist movements, said Lewis.
Lewis, whose numerous books include the recent What Went Wrong?: The Clash Between Islam and Modernity in the Middle East, and The Crisis of Islam: Holy War and Unholy Terror, would set no timetable for this drastic shift in Europe, instead focusing on the process, which he said would be assisted by "immigration and democracy." Instead of fighting the threat, he elaborated, Europeans had given up.
"Europeans are losing their own loyalties and their own self-confidence," he said. "They have no respect for their own culture." Europeans had "surrendered" on every issue with regard to Islam in a mood of "self-abasement," "political correctness" and "multi-culturalism," said Lewis, who was born in London to middle-class Jewish parents but has long lived in the United States.
The threat of extremist Islam goes far beyond Europe, Lewis stressed, turning to the potential impact of Iran going nuclear under its current regime.

Yes, that's true. It's kind of unbelievable, having lived through all that time, and how menacing the USSR was. But, it was also accomplished by aggressively competing against them, short of all-out-war, and holding them off at every turn, and then spending them into oblivion.
But, even if the USSR is gone, Russia isn't and they're playing a "spoiler role" in a lot of things that the U.S. is doing (like over in the Middle East and especially with Iran and Syria). So, they're not totally gone yet -- although they're not as big a menace as they were before.

Well, yeah -- but i think they'll bring along with them, their failed ideas. And along with them and their failed ideas, will come a bunch of Muslims, too. And so, we'll be in the same position -- but only a few more years down the road.
Those people coming over will be too dumb to learn. And the Muslims will be anxious to spread their Sharia law over here as soon as they can.
We're going to be history, along with Europe, unless this country gets smarter about the fact that Islam is not simply a religion -- but an aggressive and evil political system, using the guise of religion, to take over.

Actually if the Moo's had just shown a little more patience, say 30 years, they could have very quietly moved into a position of dominance all across Europe and Israel with no muss or fuss.
You might be right here. I ponder the same thing. Warrior blood does not die out after a mere 50 years.
You're right Tex. They won't let European immigrants in legally. We only let in illegal Mexican immigrants.
I think Muslims, especially Arabs, are deeply confused. Where does their loyalty lie? To the Koran? To their tribe? Family? Nation? Ethnic group?
Their own divisiveness may be our only hope. Though I don't wish violence on anyone, I actually foresee -- and hope -- there be much more sectarian & internecine warfare among them. Evil destroys itself.
