Shipping and handling can drive up prices significantly:

But ebay is very helpful or older, out-of-stock machine tools and spare parts. Spare lathe or milling machine pieces from the 50, 60's, or 70's. Toolholders, chuck adapters, etc. - you can only get those "new" from catalogs (if the company is still in business!) or from ebay when somebody strips out an old model.

But - for a $25.00 6 oz piece 7.00 for shipping & handling I suspect is most their profit. Then again, Sears will charge 8.00 to 12.00 for shipping.

A buyer DOES have to be extremely careful on shipping costs. While the item might be a good buy the shipping could be enormous. Read the entire post and pay especial close attention to shipping details.
