NBC's Anti-Rudy Push Poll
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 01/27/2007 9:01:32 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Definition: Push Poll: "A push poll is a political campaign technique in which an individual or organization attempts to influence or alter the view of respondents under the guise of conducting a poll. Push polls are generally viewed as a form of negative campaigning. The term is also sometimes used incorrectly to refer to legitimate polls which test political messages, some of which may be negative. Push polling has been condemned by the American Association of Political Consultants."
Melissa Russo, political reporter for NBC's NYC affiliate WNBC, recently followed Rudy Giuliani up to New Hampshire. In her report on this morning's "Today," Russo stressed that at a GOP campaign stop, Giuliani failed to inform the Granite State Republicans that "he's far from a social conservative."

View video here.

So Russo decided to take it upon herself to inform them. Here's Russo interviewing a nice Republican lady:

Russo: "Did you know he was pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro gay rights?"

Nice Republican lady: "No-o-o-o."

Russo: "Would that affect your support for him?"

Nice Republican lady: "Ye-s-s."

Have a look again at that definition of push polling. Sound to you like Russo was engaging in it?

Rudy may may be a few thing, but he is not a big government nanny state rino. To paraphrase a Bogart quote from Casablanca -"You've been misinformed".

I notice you don't dispute the POLICE STATE RINO part of my assertion.

Interesting.

Did RINO-Rudy attempt to lower taxes (to pay for the Nanny State) and cut back on any of the myriad of Draconian gun contol laws (Police State) while mayor of The Peoples Republic of NYC?

I hope JR gets tired of the spammers LIBERAL RINO-LOVERS as well and does something about it soon...

After all, this IS supposed to be a site for CONSERVATIVES.

They could name their site RU (RINO Underground), yeah, THAT'S the ticket.

If the same information is asked:

"would Rudy Guiliani's pro-homosexual marriage (civil unions=homosexual marriage), pro-abortion, pro-gun control, positions affect your decision to vote for him?"

The result has to be YES,

but look at the question is it yes i would vote for him because I am a democrat or is it yes i would not vote for him because he is just another rino.

For the record his positions make him a no go for election.

Why vote for a fake democrat when you can vote for a real democrat?

Informing people about a candidate's positions is push polling? Not by any normal definition.

And I keep being called a Liberal around here but sll the people I vote for in the booth have "R"s after theior name.

If that voting booth is in some God-forsaken Blue State hell-hole, especially if it is in a northeast-corridor inner-city, you are most likely voting LIBERAL, no matter whether there's a (D) OR an (R) after their names.

As far as a GOP that keeps helping these RINOs, they will soon see that their coffers are running much drier, because TRUE Conservatives will NOT continue giving to these dolts who insist on backing LIBERALS rather than Conservatives.

More Conservatives will, as I have been doing for many years now, give to SPECIFIC, INDIVIDUAL candidates that have proven themselves as unapologetic, principled Conservatives with a life-long (NOT recent politically-expedient "converts") CONSERVATIVE track record.

The GOP supports him. Always has through all his elections.

Boy, THAT's a RINGING ENDORSEMENT. Aren't they the dufus' that brought us snowe, graham, warner, hagel, mccain, spector, etc., etc., etc.?

what does that make you?

A TRUE Conservative who is FED UP with the spineless RINO-loving goofballs at the GOP.

They will begin to realize the folly of their support of liberal RINOs when the donations from a LARGE block of REAL conservatives STOPS flowing into their coffers.

And, if they don't realize the error in their RINO-loving ways, then we will have President hillary, or some other RINO-like demonRAT as president.

Then why are your supporting Rudy?

Because Alan Keyes has demonstrated he can't win a Senate or Presidential race.

You don't have a comeback for Keyes supporting reparations!

He nEVer does.

I'd talk to you about "reparations, if I thought you were willing to listen to what Keyes said, rather than what the media said. But I doubt that is the case.

So what you're trying to say is, when the media says something about Rudy, they're a credible source?

I love to watch them squirm as reality sets in with every given day.

I don't see them squirming at all!

The "single issue conservatives" and/or the "broken glass inactivists" (those RIIO's** who crawled over broken glass in 2006 to stay home and not vote...) are beaming ever more-and-more smug and just hopping out of bed in the morning to type "I told you so" on their favorite blog.

The one thing we can all agree on is that 2006 split the "right" into "we went too far right" and the "we haven't gone right enough."

Hillary, Fonda, Dean, Gore, Edwards etal are all pleased to hear this.

If a couple months out we can't hand together on the meaning/cause of 2006's loss, then we're certainly about to "hang separately."

Keyes never had a chance, and evidently didn't care enough that his political stock would go even lower. Very bad.

You're right, he never had a chance. His supporters here couldn't face the fact he was running in a mostly liberal district against a liberal clown like Obama. Obama simply cleaned Keyes' clock.

So which is it, am I a deep liberal mole, or just naive?

You are neither; you just don't agree with "them." And you have facts to back up your statments, not emotional rants and mean-spirited gossip mongering.

That makes you somebody they need to take out.

For amusement, try to remember the last candidate EV has been right about.

if I thought you were willing to listen to what Keyes said, rather than what the media said.

Isn't it amazing that a man who many claim is the most intellecutal, brillant speaker in years cannot manage to get his point across without his "handlers" having to repeatedly come to FR to "explain" to us exactly what he meant?

appears to have as good a chance as any to have a large base of support among Republicans, Independents, and dems perhaps disenchanted with the dem nominee.

And look who is missing from that equation; they "real, true" conservatives around here who are forever telling the rest of us that because we don't agree with them we are "liberals," or "RINOs."

They have pushed themselves so far to the right that they're irrelevant.

Perhaps that is what all the squealing is about.
