Sorry for the short notice, folks, but I know FReepers love any chance to watch Steyn! For those without cable, you can try the online streams at
http://www.c-span.org/homepage.asp
And it should be archived on the C-span site later.
Forgive me for posting and running, but I have to leave. Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up.
(Pokey, can you ping your list? I just pulled the visible names off one of your posts.)

Call-In
Increasing the Size of the Military
C-SPAN, Washington Journal
John M. Keane , U.S. Army
General Jack Keane (Ret.), former U.S. Army vice chief of staff, talks about the presidents call in the State of the Union for 92,000 Army and Marine troops. He talks about where the troops will come from, how they fit in military operations in Iraq, and logistical hurdles placed upon the military by the increase.
Thanks!
Ahh, my fellow C-Span junkie! ;-)
There's also a segment from the NR Conservative Summit listed for later this afternoon, at 2:30pm ET. However, the time may shift due to it being a live event.
Ya know, I hear people call into C-SPAN and say things like, "I've been a C-SPAN watcher for 10 years." . . . or 15 or even 20.
I first started watching them when I got cable in 1980. I think Brian Lamb went on the air a year or two before.
It truly is the best thing on the tube.
Wow, 1980! I didn't get cable the mid-90s, but got hooked immediately. (Not sure when, but it was before they started separating the phone lines for "balance", and there were almost always two guests at a time, one for each side of an issue. Was pretty funny some mornings, call after call would slam the Clinton administration. Seems like it was more regular folks calling then, instead of the seminar caller army of today.)
I was fascinated when they did an Anniversary retrospective a couple of years ago and showed how young Brian Lamb was when they started. It's amazing what one person can accomplish.
Gotta go now, bumps are appreciated so more people get a chance to see Steyn! Have a great weekend.
I'll bump her for ya. Have a great day.
Bump
I caught a panel of conservative women last night. Were they all adrift without a paddle! Maybe David Petraeus is the man they sek, if he does well in Iraq.
I thought of making the trip to DC for the National Review event but decided against it. Maybe that was good since I won't encounter any of the "anti war" freaks there this weekend who are willing to go out and committ violence in the name of peace!
I read there is a retreat next weekend in Baltimore with the House Republican Study Committee. Any idea if that is open to the public, or at least conservative faithful? Gingrich, Romney, and others are to speak. Sounds like an interesting event.
Tom Andrews, Win Without War director, is on now. He says troops are not combat ready, no equipment. The surge will not have enough equipment, etc.
Callers are telling this guy he's unconscionable.
Bump
C-SPAN is a little behind schedule.

One more bump
The funny thing about C-SPAN is how little is known about it, which is exactly the way Brian Lamb wants it to be... he wants it to be transparent, with no "personalities". Two examples: Brian Lamb's name has never been mentioned on C-SPAN itself (one of his rules); and second-in-command Susan Swain (who does the Thursday Washington Journal) is the brains behind things like BookTV and has been with C-SPAN for almost as long as Brian. She's also a truly nice person.
I was just looking for the names of the various hosts. Not listed. Although they are flashed on the screen one time at the beginning of WJ. I thought it was Connie (formerly) Brod, who was the force behind BookTV?
All good people for sure.
Here's some interesting C-SPAN stuff:
