Four American soldiers were abducted during a sophisticated sneak attack last week in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, the U.S. military confirmed Friday. It said three were shot to death and a fourth was mortally wounded with a gunshot to the head when they were found in a neighboring province, far from the compound where they were captured.
Two of the four were handcuffed together in the back seat of an SUV near the southern Iraqi town of Mahawil. A third dead soldier was on the ground nearby. The fourth soldier died on the way to the hospital, the military said in a statement issued late Friday that confirmed details reported by The Associated Press earlier.
On Jan. 20, the day of the raid on a security meeting in Karbala, the military said five soldiers were killed repelling the attack.
The brazen assault, 50 miles south of Baghdad, was conducted by nine to 12 militants posing as an American security team, according to two senior U.S. military officials as well as Iraqi officials. They traveled in black GMC Suburban vehicles _ the type used by U.S. government convoys _ had American weapons, wore new U.S. military combat fatigues, and spoke English.

That's the agreement that such tactics are punishable by being shot to death on the spot. No trial, no attorneys, etc. Those who conduct operations wearing fake uniforms of their enemy or in civilian clothes can be immediately shot as spies. This was considered an automatic assumption under the rules of war at the time of the American Revolution, at the time of the War Between the States, during WWI and WWII, and during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. It should be no different today. We should find and kill the perpetrators of this act of terrorism. There should be no attempt to capture or interrogate them. Just find them and shoot them on the spot.
I don't know what "sarasota" stands for, but I do know what Saratoga stands for....obviously, you do not.
A little "war-weary" are we? What a comfort it must be to the enemy to know that a few more dead GIs will be all it takes for people like you to scream for capitulation. Too bad our troops don't realize who the real enemy is.
To quote Mark Levin: Time to roll out those big beautiful bombers.
Now every time a US soldier encounters a uniformed Iraqi he will have to wonder " Who is he REALLY working for?"
You're right. He also has to wonder that when he encounters a reporter or a member of the US House or Senate. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, its easier to answer the question regarding the reporter or the politian.

Please get all the impressions you want, correct or incorrect. You have no idea who I am, just as I have no idea who you are...you should not make assumptions about someone you have no knowledge of.
"Embellishing stories is a favorite regional passtime."
That may be: my point is not that all Arab reporters are trustworthy, but simply that they are often our only choice when it comes to news on the ground in Iraq.
Yes, feel free to draw all the conclusions you wish...
Your response is much appreciated!
I think you overreacted to my having a bad day which, by the way, was also an overreaction. I'm back on course, but I've found that the more helpful replies are the ones that put forth encouragement instead of sarcasm.
Free up some space at GITMO???
Sounds like a plan to me...We have plenty of California and Wisconsin cheese for those who will whine about it too much...
hehehe Cheese....Whine....get it???
Yup!
Sitting and waiting for something to happen is bravo sierra. Hunt them down, find them, kill them.
Which, at the time that I wrote that, was true.
In re the computer stolen: It wasn't a high-level security computer.
Thank you for being there to make a stand.
In re the so-called anti-war crowd who was there. If a celebrity or liberal politician cried out for a war on oranges, the same people would show up to protest oranges.
I learned, over the decades of years in San Francisco, first hand the origin of the phrase "deja vu again" -- you see the same people! BUT! Take these same people back to the places they live in, and they war and brawl with their own "members". So, they have to attend these things -- it unites them into some kind of purpose. As I am saying: It's a lifestyle therapy for these people.
Thank you for twanging some heads by your mere presence in DC! :)
