You are so right. In upstate NY health care is basically subsidized by Canadians who come here to get heir procedures done (with hard cash) because the Canadian health system is woefully broken.
There is hope however...from wiki
"All insurance...upplied by the government. Recently, the Supreme Court of Quebec ruled, in Chaoulli v. Quebec that private business must be allowed to offer health insurance and compete with the public program."
That's very interesting. I worked for a large global company many years ago; we'd do executive exchanges: 2-3 year assignments. I caught on right away that all our guys/gals would do all their medical stuff here and get it done when they'd come back on vacations and so on; meanwhile, just the opposite occurred with our British and Canadian counterparts, as well as other European countries. They'd get as much crap done as they could in their 2-3 years here and I talked to many, many of them and they told me they couldn't get the stuff done there (England, Canada). I was convicted way back then and that was in the mid-late eighties.
I still don't get the word "UNIVERSAL". Medicare/medicaid does not pay if you are overseas. Does Universal mean anywhere on earth or just our american universe?
