You cannot be an American and also a muslim. Why not? This is a free country. We are in conflict with the Islamofacists who want to destroy Israel and eventually the west. Most Muslims in this country don't fall into that category.

You cannot be an American and also a muslim But some can be Americans and jerks

Tell that to our new Ambassador to the UN.

At moments like this I realize and force myself to accept the reality that the real problem here is the Muslim community itself. It is no longer the fundamentalsits or Al-Qaeda alone, rather the very community itself that has failed to deliver or even show an attempt to remedy this nihilistic ideology within their ranksAn important realization.

You cannot be an American and also a muslim. It is statements like that one that the rest of the world will hold up as evidence that FR is a little more than a gathering place for intolerant bigots.
Congratulations.

As an American but also as a Muslim I would like to convey my most sincere apologies although I know to most this are just empty words in light of the death and injury of so many.
If you didn't participate, there's no need to apologize for those who did. I'd rather Muslims who disagree with the radicals in their midst simply denounce them and state openly that the radicals don't represent them - open, vocal opposition by the majority of Muslims toward the jihadis would be the best way to defeat them.

That's BS.

Well stated. Oh, that there were so many more of you. Particularly, in public and leadership positions such as imams saying what you said so well. Welcome to FreeRepublic...

I have heard people say with complete seriousness that Christians should not be allowed to vote.

I suppose then, by your logic, that I can't be a Christian and an American? You knew you were going to get slammed for this didn't you?

Unfortunately, AdamSmithWasRight seems to be a member of a very small group indeed. I would also love to have a transcript of the remarks made in his mosque.
Love to join you both for a freewheeling discussion at the interfaith breakfast over at Our Lady of Riyadh Parish Hall.

Wonderful essay, however, isnt it a tenet of your religion to LIE to the infidels in order to advance your brutal agenda? Sorry, but this American just doesnt trust muslims or liberals!

Why not, Americans believe in Constitutional law, freedom, freedom of religion, equal rights for our sisters and mothers. Muslims believe in Sharia law. We are not equal, women are property, you are not equal - you are muslim or a pig. Those are completely separate. While I disagree with you that Muslims can't be Americans, you do bring up a good point. These are attitudes the Muslim community as a whole will need to loudly and unequivocally denounce, but I believe that was the point of the article.
