Two divorces and two remarriages disqualifies you from "excellent standing" in the Catholic Church. The church doesn't recognize divorce and sees his new marriages as adultery. The church also frowns on politicians who support abortion rights. The church does like his pro-gun-control position, however.
I stand corrected on the Church/re-marriage, not recalling the divorces (or the details)..
Any politician in the New York City/New Jersey region has to be pro-choice if they are ever to be elected and, if of worth, accomplish anything.
The trade-off is that Rudy is 1) basically a good man and 2) has the potential to bring those crucial states into the column of Presidential electors.
